Introduction

Evelynn's been re-worked! Aside from her new skills, she has also gained slight boosts to her stats. In the next few chapters we'll cover the approximate base stats of new and old Evelynn as well as compare her new and old ability damage variations.

I've been playing Evelynn for quite some time. Post-nerf, mind you. And to be quite honest, I've been playing her well. These new changes are great, almost making her a bit over-powered in my opinion. It's way too easy to destroy your enemies now. Before I had to rely on ganks, and finding solo champs to kill. Now, I am able to easily destroy foes in seconds with her new abilities and stat changes so I thought I'd share my strategies with you guys.

New Stats vs. Old Stats

We'll go over approximate stat differentiations between the new and old Evelynn. This stat differentiation is also skewed by differing runes.

Old Evelynn

Attack Damage - 57
Ability Power - 2
Attack Speed - 0.705
Movement Speed - 315
Armor - 18
Magic Resist - 32

New Evelynn

Attack Damage - 64
Ability Power - 0
Attack Speed - 0.764
Movement Speed - 315
Armor - 16
Magic Resist - 31

AD or AP?

AD with a focus in Attack Speed

Obviously Evelynn is an Attack Damage character, but Build 1 will focus on a secondary stat which in my opinion is far more effective than Attack Damage (at least on Evelynn).

Her new Ravage tweak now adds 60/75/90/105/120% attack speed. Having high attack speed will insure that you hit the 2.50 cap when Ravage is used. This is your primary high damage ability and opener.

Build 1 Items

Your primary attribute to stack is attack speed, followed with AD. A couple of the items in this Build 1 will add damage to your basic attacks making your AD appear lower than most AD characters but your actual damage output will be quite high.

The first item you get is your basic Boots of Speed. Speed is Evelynn's saving grace (see Skill Sequence for why). Combine boots, Phantom Dancer, and Dark Frenzy's active to be super speedy for a burst and get away.

Second item is obviously your Health pots. Generally I just grab 2, but grab what you're comfortable with.

Sapphire Crystal is third. If you are playing aggressively (as you should with this build) you will run out mana quickly without it as you will have little time to stand around stealthed for the mana regeneration passive.

Next up is Berserker's Greaves. This is pretty self-explanatory. The 25% attack speed and the movement speed boost is ideal for Eve.

Zeal is next on the list. You'll be turning this into a Phantom Dancer soon enough and the attack speed bonus on Zeal is a great little boost while waiting on the coin to buy PD.

Next is Phantom Dancer. The movement speed from Phantom Dancer combined with attack speed [on Eve] is a deadly combination as it allows you to keep up with your fleeing enemy while doing plenty of hits to secure a kill.

At this point, I turn my Sapphire Crystal into Sheen. The damage bonus of Sheen when combined with attack speed is great! At this point in your build you should have approximately 117 AD and 1.4 attack speed. So every third attack you deal will essentially do double damage.

Life steal is essential around this point in the game. I generally accept nothing less than Bloodthirster for the Lifesteal and AD. But Vampiric Scepter is fine temporarily if you are short on cash.

Malady your next item. The 50% attack speed on Malady is great and should put you at approximately 1.891. The other option would be Wits End which will give you only 40% attack speed, but is more geared towards AD. I like Malady for the 20 points of damage per attack and the Magic Resist lowering effect. It's honestly a matter of preference at this point.

Trinity Force is your next item. I get this for the added slow of Phage which is instrumental in your ability to kill a fast moving enemy such as Teemo or other Evelynn's. The attack speed from Zeal is also quite nice.

If you have some money to kill, go ahead and grab an Infinity Edge to pour a little salt in your enemies' wounds. Nothing hurts worse than an Eve who hits faster than a cracked out Teemo and ALSO hits like a truck.

Build 2 items

Build 2 is a bit more basic than build 1, and it is suggested for players who are new to Evelynn. This build makes you stronger in early game, allowing you to get kills early on, increasing your potential easier than build 1, but ultimately granting slightly lower DPS at level 18.

Next up is Berserker's Greaves. This is pretty self-explanatory. The 25% attack speed and the movement speed boost is ideal for Eve.

Grab a Dagger to help you build up Black Cleaver while helping you boost your Attack Speed earlier on.

Black Cleaver is suggested next since the Attack Damage and Attack Speed are both ideal for Eve. Since your Attack Speed will be quite high, the Passive of Black Cleaver is great as it will quickly reduce your target's armor by 45.

Zeal is next on the list. You'll be turning this into a Phantom Dancer soon enough. The movement speed from Phantom Dancer combined with attack speed [on Eve] is a deadly combination as it allows you to keep up with your fleeing enemy while doing plenty of hits to secure a kill.

At this point, buy Phage. The passive alone is worth it. You're highly mobile, you have high attack speed, and moderate damage. Phage has a 25% chance to slow your target by 30% for 2.5 seconds. If you take into account that you attack approximately 1.2 attacks per seconds. You will have a very high chance of inflicting that slow, making them an easier kill.

Next is Phantom Dancer. The movement speed from Phantom Dancer combined with attack speed and the slow on Phage [for Eve] is a deadly combination as it allows you to keep up with your fleeing enemy while doing plenty of hits to secure a kill.

Life steal is essential around this point in the game. I generally accept nothing less than Bloodthirster for the Lifesteal and AD. But Vampiric Scepter is fine temporarily if you are short on cash. Buy Bloodthirster when you have a chance.

Frozen Mallet is next to last in this build. You get a slight boost to your AD (2), and a 10% boost to your slow effect. The 700 health will add to your survivability as well.

If you have some money to kill, go ahead and grab an Infinity Edge to pour a little salt in your enemies' wounds. Nothing hurts worse than an Eve who hits faster than a cracked out Teemo and ALSO hits like a truck.

Skill Sequence

This one is fairly situational.

Ideally you will max Ravage first and foremost. When you cannot spend points in Ravage, spend them in Hate Spike. If you can spend points in Agony's Embrace, do it. Once Ravage and Hate Spike are maxed, max Dark Frenzy.

If you are having trouble with your enemies or god-forbid under-levelled then go ahead and put about two points into Dark Frenzy early on. This will be your saving grace. As Dark Frenzy will give you a run speed bonus. Combine this with Hate Spike and you can be running away while casting Hate Spike on enemy champions and gaining the passive run speed bonus. When that runs out, activate Dark Frenzy and you will escape with ease.

I personally find that the best defense is a strong offense but honestly this is subjective and varies based on the situation and enemy group composition.

Skill Breakdown

Shadow Walk - Her new passive allows you to enter stealth approximately 8 seconds after not taking or dealing damage. This passive has a large detection ring so be wary of enemy champions. Minions however are stupid and will not see you. While stealthed you will gain 1% mana per second. This is much needed but not very viable if you play aggressively. A Mana item will generally help you.

Hate Spike - To be used on cooldown. The trajectory depends upon your position in comparison to the nearest enemy. To kill minion waves with ease, position yourself so that you will hit the line of minions.

Dark Frenzy - Great for escaping a bad combat situation. The passive combined with Hate Spike to do some ranged damage to your pursuers and activate this ability's passive speed bonus. The active part of this ability should then be used when the passive speed boost runs out. This ability also frees you from crowd control abilities. Highly useful in a combat situation depending upon who you are up against.

Ravage - Always open with Ravage. It will do a nice amount of initial damage followed by a large amount of attack speed bonus making Evelyn's initial damage burst. This ability should be used on cooldown in combat. Ravage is instrumental in destroying towers quickly. While attacking an enemy tower, simply attack an approaching enemy minion with Ravage and then focus the tower. This is a great for backdoor tower assaults.

Agony's Embrace - Try if to always target multiple enemies when using this ability. You will gain a damage shield per enemy that this ability hits. This allows you to more easily take out groups of enemies at once. This ability will also slow your foes, making them easy prey to jump in and Ravage them. (That sounded dirty...)

Pros / Cons

(Evelynn's new stealth mechanic is both great and terrible.)

PROS:

Her damage output has increased.
Her new Ultimate has a slow effect as well as damage and a shield. This is great for survivability as well as helping you kill multiple enemies.
Her new Ravage attack speed bonus is similar to Malice and Spite (her old ultimate) - it on a 9 second cooldown and is instrumental in taking out a tower quickly (Find out more in Skill Breakdown).
While stealthed she is still not detectable by minions (only towers and champions).

CONS:

Her visibility range while stealthed is huge.
Agony's Embrace does little damage.
Agony's Embrace has a very high cooldown for what it does.
The loss of her old passive (Determined Killer. Which reduced enemy team minion damage by 50%) makes her take a high amount of damage from enemy team minions. If you are used to the old Evelynn this will take some getting used to (I used to flank the champions and kill their waves to give us a slight advantage and help push - this is no longer do-able at mid to low levels).

Summoner Spells

Use Ignite when your enemy is low (25% or less). [Duh!] This limits their chance for escape and generally insures a kill. This is how you will get kills early on (first 4 levels).

Flash is great for chasing your enemies or getting away. [Duh!] Use it to help pursue a near-dead champion or save your butt when you're near dead. Combine with Dark Frenzy to quickly get away.
