Introduction
From my experience in playing this game I have learnt that the route to success lies in loving your champion and in this case, not fearing Nocturne, the Eternal Nightmare.
Nocturne's official champion spotlight
An epic "Thank You" to jhoijhoi for help with the templates and section dividers, which you can find here.
Nocturne, in general is a very good melee ad carry who can, easily go either solo top, duo bot or even jungle. But even saying this, like all champions Nocturne can be shut down and countered if played poorly, while if played correctly he can be as deadly as a cat and mouse affair. Overall Nocturne is a champion who specializes at taking out single targets very fast and very efficiently.
Pros & Cons
I like chicken and |
Pros+ Extremely high damage output + Can be played in several roles + He has huge ganking potencial + He's a ghost with a beastly ultimate |
I like ducks | So do you I think |
Cons- Very squishy throughout this build - A relatively high cool down on his ultimate, Paranoia - If countered, difficult to play - Needs decent farm and a good amount of items to be good - You have to hit Duskbringer to get successful kills early game - Well... he's a bit of a nightmare |
Runes
This allows me to prevent a lot of early game harassment damage. Overall, I play this rune set up for any AD champion or bruiser. I've tried to play pure AD, but I tend to have a huge early game disadvantage when I do so compared to when I have some armor and magic resistance.

No offence to any other 'glass cannon' Nocturne build but, if you can beat this, please give me a call. 24% lifesteal, 360+ AD (40% and 450+ AD with maxed Bloodthirster passive, over 2 basic attacks per second and MAD critical strikes. You tell me what can be better for destroying your enemy? For my play style this is the most perfect glass cannon build I can come up with. The only thing on top of this can be replacing my Berserker's Greaves for an other Phantom Dancer. What this does is that it maxes out your attack speed for the cost of movement speed. More so, by doing this your kills will be completely dependent on Duskbringer, because even if you catch up to your enemies with your ultimate Paranoia you will fall behind them if they run. Not to mention, since this build will leave Nocturne so squishy, you will need that extra movement speed in case you are trying to escape your perfect counter or gank.
One very important item in this build is Black Cleaver. Regarding its price, this is a fantastic item for Nocturne as, it gives attack speed and tonnes of damage not to mention its overly overpowered passive, which stacks three times to bring down any enemy's armor by 45.
While we have gone through attack speed, movement speed and even enemy armor reduction, we haven't looked at the factor which distingueses AD carries to AP carries, the attack damage. This factor comes mainly from the two different core items of Nocturne, Bloodthirster and the all so famous Infinity Edge. In all honesty one copy of Bloodthirster is enough to dominate the enemy but, two of them will have you absolutly unstoppable. Each of them, when max stacked provides 100 AD and 20% lifesteal.
One top of the 200 AD comming from those two items we have the famous blade of crit know as the Infinity Edge. Sure it gives 80 AD but, the main reason for people buying this item lies in a combination of percentage and double damage. So, in proper language, when you critical strike with this item in your inventory you damage is increase to 250% rather than 200%. Even on top of that you get an increased 25% chance to crit. Now isn't that fantastic?
