The idea with this fiddlesticks is complete lane domination. You can harass early, constantly, and so effectively that you will deny your enemy experience and gold. You are not afraid of a little damage (just chain-stun / burst) because you can Drain a creep to heal back up. Doran's Ring is a great starter, to keep your mana high early on.

If the enemy is heavy magic, get an Abysal Scepter instead of the rod of ages.
If the enemy is heave DPS, get a frozen heart instead of the rod of ages.
Banshee's Veil should allow you to pop off your ultimate and/or Drain whoever you please without being interrupted. Notice also, this item build focuses on early magic penetration, and NOT ability power. That is a no-brainer given fiddle's AP ratios on his spells.

In the lane, try to kill 1 or 2 of the ranged creeps and then bombs away with Dark-Wind, it will probably bounce and hit the enemy hero 2-4 times. If they decide to engage and stay near the melee creeps... just Drain them. If I ever see two enemy heroes just standing around (even by tower) I do everything I can to pop off a Dark-Wind on one of them, for maximum bouncing fun.

Always be softening them with Dark-Wind, and when your ultimate finally comes, walk off sideways as if you are going to another lane, and then either stay with your lane in a bush or actually go to another lane. Find a juicy target... Crow-Storm behind them, Dark-Wind them, and Drain them. cha ching!
