As many others, I too am exploring the possibilities of Galio. This champion is INCREDIBLY situational, and should not tunnel-vision on his passive.

BUILD #1: Anti-Physical

The first build is obviously the Anti-Physical build. I personally feel that no matter what,Chalice of Harmony & Merc. Treads are ideal for this character. Now let me break down the others.

THORNMAIL: The obvious 100 armor helps out alot. With Galios taunt forcing the enemies to hit him, they will also receive damage from Thornmail. If they're not dead by the end of your Ult, chances are they are fairly low. This combined with the Sunfire Cape has proven to be deadly.

SUNFIRE CAPE
: Same reason as Thornmail, but it also gives you the HP and Armor that you need. Galio seems to have relatively low health in comparison to someone like Sunfire Shen. His Bulwark, however, will help trump the difference when it comes to solo or group fights.

GUARDIAN ANGEL
: Defense and Magic Resist. Just because you are going against a heavy Physical team, doesn't mean you should COMPLETELY ignore his passive. It will help out just enough when it comes to abilities, to include killing/farming minions. You're obviously in a tough predicament in the enemy team does live through your beastmode Ult.

The sequence is really all about your taste. I personally enjoy getting all three within the first three levels because of the utility they bring. Bulwark should be #1 priority, and I believe the other two could be left up to your own liking. While both do have slowing effects, I prefer Righteous Gust because it helps my team catch up, and even a rank 1 Resolute Smite is enough to slow the enemies.

Runes: I feel that mitigation with defense will exceed flat HP in the long run. Again, personal preference always comes into play when it comes to runes.

BUILD #2: Anti-Magic

There's abo****ely no hesitation when I say that BULWARK takes highest priority when building Galio this way. Even one Physical DPS can tear him down in the early stages, and Bulwark adds a relatively significant amount of armor to counter it. Enough to get away, atleast. Again, I feel more biased to Righteous Gust because of how beneficial overall it is to the team.

AEGIS OF THE LEGION:
This item I feel synergies well with Galio. As MR items often do not hold health, Aegis of the Legion will provide that, armor, and MR while also benefiting your team.

BANSHEE'S VEIL
: While this item offers no physical mitigation, it's an absolute must against a team carrying 2 or more casters. Thea added health, MR, and spell block makes this the MOST viable item in a Magic Resist build.

GUARDIAN ANGEL: While this item may be unattainable in the normal match - I would HIGHLY suggest taking atleast a chain-mail if the enemy team has physical DPS. 40 Armor will go along way, especially with having as little as Galio does with a MR build.

TIP: This will also explain my summoner skill selection. Clarity will help you out with laning. Teleport however, can save a tower. How? Oh I'm sure you know.. ;)

In a situation where defending the tower is the most vital thing your team can do at the time, once you're level 6 you can teleport to the tower, and if quick enough pop the Ult. Once the enemy champion is taunted, the tower should draw threat to him because he is attacking you, thus adding damage to the chaos.

As I've said before, this character is brand new and it may take some time to learn the ropes of get the right-feeling build. You can always use your best judgement when you run into a team that is half and half.

I would suggest the following:
Chalice
Merc Treads
Thornmail
Banshee's Veil
...and build to a Guardians Angel.

I would greatly appreciate any feedback. Good luck, and happy hunting!
