Definitely build Black Cleaver! It works really well with him. You get the stacks for it really quick, and can shred people. Everything about it is really good. Getting cooldown reduction is really good. Damage is great too, black cleaver is a good more bruiser item.

I have just learned the power of Garen by playing him toplane. I stayed away from him because he was an older champ and not getting the hype but I was wrong.

Now I'm interested in your build but the lack of CDR bothers me. With a champ who has no mana I just want to go Sir Spam-a-lot. I love your idea but I may put black cleaver in the place of IE; but I see the problem with that since now I can't assassinate people, right?

Anyhow thanks for giving an old champ some new eyes.

CDR is a luxury stat on Garen. Garen getting CDR does not speed up his usual Q E combo. It will always last 3 to 3.5 seconds. Garen does not want to be in a fight for a long time as it. He is meant to kill a squishy target and reset with his passive. Someone like Darius needs CDR to lock down a target, and then keep his cooldowns low to keep it going seeing as he enjoys long fights. I explain this in my guide if u want to check it out. 10% is all you really need to have your combo back up in a reasonable amount of time, as in most cases you're waiting for health regen anyways.

Hey man that is really good to hear =) Garen mid is a sleeper pick. Most people won't expect how much damage he can do and just get snowballed on. I am glad to hear that you like it, that makes my day.

I made an account just to vote for it and to say that this is easily my favorite build on Garen. Since i've seen this build i've played it like 10 times and everytime it is just amazing! I love the comments during teambuilding that say "Garen Mid?? are you sure" and all i say is "you'll see". You defiently killed it with this concept, props! oh and i even played against a LeBlanc and still went 10/0/9

That's a really great idea, I will make sure to update that right now (laning phases). Glad you are looking at the build =) A quick answer to this would be play safe. I know it is lame, but really just whenever you get a little low you can just back off and let your health regen. Your passive can make it so you don't have to back as often.

Hey, I just want to say that I am extremly interested in trying garen mid. However, I am not quite sure in how garen really should be build in the early game. You recommend damage or quicksilver sash but since garen is a walk into your face and kill champ wnd could be poked down and denied farm by those like xerath, vicktor or azir. If you could write how garen can survive in the early game against these poke champs, that would be great.

Thanks man! Ya I had just been playing it a little bit kinda to break the meta, and it is actually pretty strong and really fun. Melting carries with just your Q, E combo is extremely satisfying. Don't worry I will get some stuff up later this week. Been very busy with school but looking forward to making some pages for this.

Just tried out this guide, pretty hilarious way to play him. Plus you actually one shot like everyone. Great build! Try to add some more content, I am looking forward to some match ups and all that stuff. + Build
