Why Cinderhulk? And when to get it.

Cinderhulk gives kayn the tankyness he needs to scale the best into the late game. But when do you get it?

Start off with Hunter's Machete and 3 potions, get sweeping lens. On your first (B) get tiamat and 3x controll wards. You should then get skirmishers upgrade and focuon getting black cleaver since it gives 20% CDR and jungle mobility of its passive.

Get Ninja tabi after that get Cinderhulk. As well as a ruby crystal or Bamis cinder if possible. Start building For Maw or Youmuus. If you're ahead enough you can decide to get an mid game titanic hydra. Get upgraded sweeping lens and focus on either youmuus or sweeping lens. By now you should have, Cinderhulk, Ninja Tabi, Black cleaver Maw/Youmuus. And now you can just focus on that last item thats either youmuus or Maw

Why the tanky approach?

Since Kayn already has a lot of burst damage and potential you dont really need lethality, you get the 30% pen from Black cleaver and the raw lethality from Yomuus, if you go shadow form % of the damage you deal becomes magic, and if you go Darkin then you are a beast that can get all of your hp back in a R (ult). Since you already deal enough damage and this patch/meta is more team reliant. You cant rely on your team to finish the jop if you trade yourself for an potential kill on a carry.

Introduction

How to play Kayn tanky, since you're tanky enough to be a frontliner instead of a spooky assassin you're more of a brucer now, take that into consideration and engage with your team not alone, in champ select tell your team that you want some heavy engage and disengage. Braum, Nami and Leona are good picks for Braum in the support lane. Whilst Galio or Malphite are dominators in teamfights for supporting hard engagers like Kayn. tell you'r mid laner to play safe and if you see a loosing lane, camp another one. It's a higher risk for a potential carry, since even if you gank a lane as kayn its hard to shut them down as a squishy early game assassin.

Pros / Cons

Kayn is one of the best roamers, quick and deadly. What shut's him down the most is hard CC. So avoid picking him VS. teams that have Malzahar and Leona or a Thresh and Nami, their CC alone can get you killed in seconds but thanks to you being tanky you can maybe even escape that fate.

What kayn is good at is hard camping lanes, since you have a free be passing walls you should have no problem camping lanes such as bot or top. Get early pink wards, stack up on them, get 3 by you'r first or second B and use them only for going agro. Smorc it all.

Farming

Getting Tiamat before you'r skirmishers should be enough for you to sustain the early jungle. Get 3 hp pots if you are going to invade and refillable if you want to go hunters.

If you are going to invade i suggest not fighting the enemy jungler since a lot of junglers are deal more damage than kayn early levels like Lee or Kha'Zix. Take their raptors or golems and dip out. Same with wolfs or Gromp. Once you hit lvl 11 you should be able to duel them (if you're not fed that is.

Hunters Machete 3hp pots > Tiamat & boots > Skirmishers & long swords or Ruby crystal, Controll wards x3 > Yomuus or black cleaver or Ninja Tabi > Cinderhulk & Negatron Cloak or Long Sword > Hexdrinker or Titanic Hydra or (if you want them now) BC or Yomuus(who ever you didnt build first) > Maw.

Ranked Play

In ranked play you're better off at communicating with you'r team in champ select and so on forth. Giving you'r team an idea of how and what you will play will open more doors for other comps. If you don't say that you will be going AD Brucer/tank Kayn, you'r support or top laner will maybe pick a tank just because they think you will go full ad assassin style.

Use pings as often as often.
YOU DO NOT NEED WARDS! You're a all in heavy assassin going brucer build get controll wards and sweepers, invade enemy jungle to put in controll wards and use them also for ganks to clear wards to set-up a potential gank!

Practice before ranked! (seriously dont play this blind in ranked you'll get flamed hard)
Only pick Kayn into teams where he can either go all in with little to no punish or with a team that can provide CC for you, for an easy escape!

Skill Sequence

The path i showed you is not the most optimal if you just want to max Q, but since you're going to be a brucer getting more even damage output down is more reliant since you will have 20-30% CDR mid game.

If you are just going to farm JG i recommend just to focus on Q, but if you're a heavy ganker i'd spread it out evenly between Q and W.

Spells

JUNGLE- Once kayn is ahead hes not hard to shut down, many champs scale harder into the late game than him so flash is almost always a must.

Top- If you're going top Kayn than id say TP, Exhaust or Ignite depending on the matchup. Exhaust Vs. Pantheon as an example, Pantheon accells at fast hard hitting combos so landing that exhaust in the middle of it is not hard. Ignite for matchups like Olaf to negate healing from his W. And TP Vs. The tanks such as Naut or Gragas.

Team Work

Do not 1v9!

Season 7 has become a team reliant meta, withoute you'r team it's very hard to win the game if you're not a hyper carry!

Focus on trying to get you'r team to respond to pings as well as communicating with them as much as possible.

For ranked: /mute all. This is the best way to not tilt, since PINGS give you every singe opportunity you can have to communicate. ''on my way'' (im ganking) ''Assist'' (help me) or calling dragon/baron: ''carefull'' (enemy laner coming to you/jungler) as well as ''Danger'' (pretty self explanitory)

Masteries and why the extra 5% CDR?

You're playing an assassin with already low CD on your (Q) and (W), as well as a high gank/escape abilaty on (E) and a fight staller (R) The extra CDR really helps late game since you don't scale that well, Kayn accells in early mid to late mid game and falls off from there on out. This build will help YOU to stay tanky and relatively helpful as a new frontliner! Instead of as a squishy Assassin!

Both Smite, Flash and the rest of you'r abilaties can all need more CDR which makes you more deadly and less squishy since you'r (E) will be up even faster!

Since you're going off-tank stormraiders surge accells for easy pickings and since you will still be able to almost kill their adc every time stormraiders helps a lot with the bonus movement speed and slow resistances!

You go assassin since you will look for easy picks around the map and you want to be able to duel the enemy jungler. Dangerous game for the heal and mana.

Merciless for the extra damage!

Sorcery, Natural talent and Battle trance for the extra bonus damage and scaling.

And wanderer for the roaming potential! And Feast for the jungle sustain!

Unique Skills

You are the only champ that can walk in walls! Make use of that!

Kayn is the most broken champion vs full mele teams since they cant even auto attack him if he walks into a thick wall or obsticle. You can really make use of that as time stall for you'r top or mid laner to come or bait for insane profit. Abuse it as much as possible vs Mele teams! (if you're not low and gonna die then in that case get away from there)

What if you dont want Cinderhulk? Warriors and Sunfire Cape?

I recommend Cinderhulk for the teams that lack tanks but if you're already tank heavy (top and supp tank and mid has some good HP scaling AD/AP) Then you can always go with warriors and switch youmuus out for Sunfire Cape?

I want warrior but i need more HP with this build how do i do it?

If you feel like you want more HP with the warriors switch-up take away the 9 armor runes and switch them for HP scaling lvl-18 runes, that gives you a bonus of 216hp at lvl 18 which helps you sustain with more HP for each level!

Jungle Path???

Start with red and go to raptors(chickens), Proceed to either take wofls > blue
OR Blue > Gromp. After that proceed to look for a gank top or mid! If yuo cant find any opportunity take wolves and proceed to go bot and look for a gank bot lane. If not any go B or take cruggs and go B.

This is probably the best path for Kayn right now since his damage output is high enough to do a lvl 2 raptors and proceed to be healthy enough for gromp.

Counters and Counter

You counter champs with very low CC that cant respond to quick burst, against let's say Yasuo you should focus on dodging his (Q) to avoid poke or unecessary damage taken. Dodge his (Q) if needed with you'r (Q) or (R) for an easy kill! If needed take Ignite for an early lead and preassure.

Pros / Cons For Top Kayn

Shadow Assassin form is very agile and provides less CC, only pick this form Vs. Brucers like Wu Kong or top Quinn whilst Darkin form is better for long term duels like Yasuo or Darius.

You are better off at using (Q) and follow up instanly with a (Q) in Shadow form for a fast minion wave clear. Be wary of ganks and use you'r (E) as an heal in lane if you have warded the river and you don't want to duel the enemy laner!

Darkin form is pretty straight forward, use (W) as an engage and follow up with (Q) if near a wall use (E) to wait for cooldowns and the heal. Re-engage with (Q), do whatever needs to be done next for an easy kill.

Jungle Path?

Start with red buff and don't smite, go to raptors and use smite there. Proceed to either take wolf > blue > gank. Or Gromp Blue Gank.

If top or mid is not gankable take scuttle and go B. Go bot and take cruggs and now look for a gank bot to mid. If none available and scuttle is there, take that and rotate to top for wolfs or gromp.

Start with Hunters Machete and 3HP Potions. Be sure to get controll wards and sweepers!

Switch Cinderhulk for Warrior?

If you dont feel comfortable with the Cinderhulk build and you already have enough tankyness in you' team. You can always get Skirmishers Warriors Enchantment and get a Sunfire Cape Instead! Switch out the Youmuu's ghostblade for sunfire cape!

Since Sunfire Cape gives more AOE dmg that gives more of a faster clear!

Need more Scaling! What do i do?

You can always consider adding 9x Yellow Scaling HP per lvl runes which gives +216 at lvl 18.

That gives you the scaling you need HP Wise!

Why does the Darkin Top build have Thornmail and Rav Hydra?

Sinces hes a lot less mobile in that form he will be easier to hit with poke, to life steal for that form is better in lane. Given you will be a heavy frontliner with tons of damage i suggest thornmail to negate opposing life steal for easier picks!
