Well deserved for winning a spot in the contest. I have to admit, part of this victory (and the commendation) definitely goes to Hopper for her stellar visuals on this guide. That said, the information here is really thorough and well organized. For a first guide, I think you did a terrific job and the painstaking drafting and review process you went through really shows in the final product. If I decide to pick up Taliyah in the future, I'll definitely read this guide again, start to finish.

Never been able to get the hang of Taliyah before, but always was interested in her damage going against her. Will have to try this out.

Why not get tp?

TP is largely unnecessary to get an important early buy (like Malzahar's Lost Chapter) or to return to lane from being bullied in the first few levels (like Kassadin or Fizz), since Taliyah already has good waveclear from the start and her passive lets her get back to lane faster. The other mid laners that often take Teleport can also flank / immediately influence fights with it, and Taliyah doesn't do that nearly as well as a mobile melee assassin or someone with immediate point-and-click CC.

There's also the fact that Taliyah pretty much always wants a defensive summoner to fight other mid laners with more up-front burst damage. I took ghost out of the guide because everyone does so much damage in the preseason, and you really need the defensive tools to keep up.
