Thanks for the heads up, first comment tho, seriously mate, AP is only useful later on in the game if and ONLY if the oponent squishys have decided to get some armour, in which case it doesnt help you that much but it does a bit. Trinity force damage on your q ability is alot mroe beneficial, + the item is better gives u a slow on AA among other things!
An AP build on Irelia is brutal if you know how to build it right. Another funny thing is that AP Irelia does about as much magic damage as physical damage, because AA supported by Lich Bane procs do physical damage. Going AP on Irelia gives her ultimate a 6.6 AP ratio, if used right:
(0.4 base AP ratio x 4 + 5 Lich Bane procs (1 AP ratio per proc) = 6.6
So imagine Irelia with only 400 AP, her ulti can do 6.6 x 400 + 4 x 190(ulti base dmg) = 3400 damage.
And that's just her ulti ^^
This build isn't about 'hurting them most', obviously. It's about killing the enemy carry and surviving a teamfight, derp derp.
Nice build, I always use triforce as a core item when I play Irelia as an offtank, although I prefer Glacial Shroud as my armor item.

I like this build, similar to mine (click my sig if you want and comment and rate :D) and I play Irelia a lot. Any form of AP isn't very useful on her, just her E.
And you get the extra damage after cast from triforce, it doesn't stack with lichbane. If youre not using AP, you will get much more damage from the triforce passive than the lich one. :)
I will say tho, I use HP flat quints and scaling yellows, she isn't squishy at ALL early game for me :)
