Not Updated For Current Season

Janna is a very adaptable champion; she can be played like a tank, a supporter or a nuker.
My build will make you understand how to be aggressive with Janna.
Janna is really fast, she has good chance to escape from enemies, so she can be aggressive or defensive.
I usually use Ghost and Heal; Ghost to escape if enemies slow or stun me, or to follow someone, and Heal is used to not waste the ultimate.
However you can use Ignite, Exhaust, Clarity, Teleport and Flash too.
Build & Items
The build that I will explain will be slightly modified depending on the opponents you'll find during the game.
First object you have to buy is Doran's Ring; you'll gonna have 10 Ability Power, 120 Health, 5 Mana Per 5 Sec at the beginning of the match. This build for Janna is based on having items which give you health and mana, in order to have more Ability Power with your Archangel's Staff and be more resistant, and also to have cooldown reduction for you spells.
When you have 1000 or more money, go buy Boots of Speed (you need them in order to buy Boots of Swiftness in mid game) and Ruby Cristal for the Catalyst the Protector.
Buy Rod of Ages and you'll gonna have 810 health and 925 mana with 100 more ability power.
Now it's time for the Zhonya's Ring which will give you 120 ability power and 25% of your max AP converted into ability power.
You'll gonna have an increased spell damage; then buy Archangel's Staff and you'll have 1400 mana with 3% of your max mana converted into ability power, and 45 ability power with 25 mana regen per 5 sec.
Last two items will be Banshee's Veil (450 health and 400 mana with 54 magic resist and the passive who makes you able to block one negative spell every 30 seconds. The mana that you will receive from Banshee's Veil will stack with Archangel's Staff)
Now you can choose to buy a Soul Shroud to have a reduced cooldown by 15% and 12 mana regen per 5 sec with 520 more health, or a Void Staff to have 70 ability power and 40% magic penetration. If you'll buy Void Staff remember to buy Sorcerer's Shoes instead of Boots of Swiftness.
Then, here the two builds.
Janna can be really aggressive withouth a so high cooldown. So I use cooldown reduction runes and ability power.
To make her more resistant I use mana regen and halth runes too. But you can always change them and use all ability power and cooldown reduction runes.
9x Greater Glyph of Focus; -0.65% cooldowns.
9x Greater Seal of Clarity; +0.1 mana regen / 5 sec. per level (1.8 at champion level 18).
9x Greater Mark of Force; +0.1 ability power per level (1.8 at champion level 18).
3x Greater Quintessence of Fortitude; +32.4 health.
Increases the movement speed of all allied champions by 3%.
Cooldown 11 seconds
Cost 90 / 105 / 120 / 135 / 150 mana
Janna summons a mighty whirlwind, which she can release to deal 60 / 85 / 110 / 135 / 160 (+75% of ability power) + 25 / 30 / 40 / 50 / 60 (for each second it charges) magic damage to all targets in it's path, in addition to knocking them into the air. The distance traveled by the whirlwind increases for each second it channels.
Cooldown 13 / 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 seconds
Cost 40 / 50 / 60 / 70 / 80 mana
Passive Increases Janna's movement speed by 8 / 10 / 12 / 14 / 16%, and allows her to move through units.
Active Janna launches her elemental at the target dealing 60 / 115 / 170 / 225 / 280 (+80% of ability power) magic damage, and slowing their movement speed by 24 / 30 / 36 / 42 / 48% for 4 seconds. Janna loses the passive benefit while Zephyr is on cooldown.
Eye Of The Storm
Cooldown 12 seconds
Cost 70 / 80 / 90 / 100 / 110 mana
Janna shields her target, absorbing 80 / 120 / 160 / 200 / 240 (+90% of ability power) damage and buffs them, increasing their attack damage by 14 / 23 / 32 / 41 / 50 for 10 seconds (can target Turrets).
Cooldown 120 seconds
Cost 200 / 275 / 350 mana
Janna knocks surrounding enemies back and channels healing winds, restoring 90/130/170 (+0.35) health to nearby allies each second for 4 seconds. Enemies that re-enter the storm have their movement speed slowed by 40%.
Playing with Janna
Janna is a champion who can be alone or with another ally, during the game. She can defend a lane just staying alone with Howling Gale and Eye of The Storm to protect the turret (this in case of a jungling champion in your team).
In most of cases Janna stay in lane with another ally. How to play with her, then?
If your allie is aggressive, then increase your [Q] spell (Howling Gale), and put it in a diagonally way to have a chance of hitting at least one opponent who will not move, thinking that the hurricane to go straight.
While combact, use Zephyr to slow your enemy, then use Howling Gale to stop him from running away. If your Zephyr cooldown is finished, use it again and target your ally with Eye of the Storm to increase his attack and to protect him from damages. If you need to escape use your final to sweep away your enemies (but only if you have at least a quarter of life). Do the same thing to save your allies, or use your ultimate to restore them health if you want to push all together after killed your enemies.
To make money faster, go alone in lane when you are 11 or 12 level, kill minions with Howling Gale.
To be stronger, you need to kill minions like Baron Nashor (or Ebonmaw if you're playing in Twisted Treeline), Ancient Golem
Baron Nashor is the most powerful minion. He appears after 15 minutes on the Summoner's Rift Field of Justice.
Killing the Baron gives the "Exalted with Baron Nashor" buff to all living champions on the team that killed him. This buff gives massively increased attack damage and ability power as well as a bonus in health and mana regeneration.
After Baron Nashor is slain, all living players on the team that killed him gain a buff that lasts 8 minutes with the following attributes:
40 Ability Power
3% increase in Health Regeneration
1% increase in Mana Regeneration
Each player on the team is also granted the following:
900 Experience Points
Ebonmaw, the Terror of Zaun
Ebonmaw, the Terror of Zaun is a neutral Minion in League of Legends' Field of Justice Twisted Treeline . Like the Baron Nashor, he is an epic monster.
Once defeated, Ebonmaw will give you and your team a special Buff called Crest of Crushing Wrath that gives the player an additional 1% per Champion-level bonus damage on attacks and spells.
The Ancient Golem
The Ancient Golem is a neutral Minion in League of Legends described in game as "A tough monster that attacks with slow but punishing blows. Slaying this foe greatly increases mana regeneration and reduces cooldowns."
This Minion gives you "This unit regens 1.5% mana (or energy) per second and has 24.00% cooldown reduction on their abilities. If slain, this buff transfers to the killer."
Janna was my first champion and I really love her. I can play her really good and she is funny.
