Chapter 1

As the royal family of Demacia for centuries, members of the Lightshield line have spent their lives waging war against any who opposed Demacian ethics. It is said that every Lightshield is born with anti-Noxian sentiment in his blood. Jarvan IV is no exception, even though he is the first Lightshield born to the age of the League of Legends. As his forefathers had before him, he led Demacian troops into bloody engagements with Noxian forces, and on many occasions he has bled alongside wounded allies and fallen comrades. In his most crushing defeat, he was outmaneuvered and captured by a Noxian battalion under the command of Jericho Swain. This mistake nearly cost him his life at the hands of Urgot, but he was rescued by the Dauntless Vanguard, an elite Demacian strike force led by Jarvan's childhood companion, Garen. \n\n Those close to him believed that his capture changed him. Xin Zhao was quoted as saying: ''His eyes never seemed to look at you, only through you to something he could not look away from.'' One day, without warning, Jarvan IV handpicked a squad of Demacian soldiers and left Demacia, vowing to find ''atonement''. He began by tracking and hunting the most dangerous beasts and bandits he could find in northern Valoran, but he soon tired of such prey. Seeking something that only he understood, he ventured south of the Great Barrier. He wasn't heard from again for nearly two years. After many had assumed the worst, he returned to glorious fanfare on the streets of Demacia. His Demacian plates were adorned with the bones and scales of creatures unknown. His eyes bore the wisdom of someone twice his age. Of the twelve soldiers who had departed with him, only two returned. In a tone as cold and steady as steel, he swore to bring the enemies of Demacia to their knees. \n\n ''There is only one truth, and you will find it at the point of my lance.''\n - the ''last words'' of Jarvan IV at his failed execution

1. Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my first guide. I know that small sentence may discourage some readers, but please, read on. I build Jarvan mostly as Tanky-DPS, meaning I pack a mean punch while still being hard to kill.

2. Abilities

This is excellent for farming and jungling, the first time you attack something you do extra damage to them.
Your bread and butter. Use this to poke people, harass, and get assists if you're too far away.
Used in your main combo.
Works better when you're surrounded, but you shouldn't really be hoping for that. Use it if you're chasing/being chased for a quicker kill/escape. Also use it when low on health and absolutly needing a kill.
Free temporary ward, AoE buff, and flash. What's not to love? Pop this in a push to check if there's anybody in it, use it on monsters along with Dragon Strike to do extra damage, or use it for kills. I rarely use it for the AoE buff.

An awesome ult, in my opinion. Jumps to a target and for a few seconds keeps them in a small area. Useful against people who turret dive, if you've got enough health to survive them. Also useful during team fights, to make sure they can't escape.

4. Summoner Spells

Spells Viables
Ghost - Helps you chase, flee, everything...Always a good spell.
Cleanse - Heh, Sion doesn't scare me anymore...
Smite - A must for ANY jungler, if you don't have this and you're jungling, yeah, GG...
Flash - Really a good spell for anyone, fleeing, chasing, yeah...
Exhaust - Good for Assassin or tank Jarvan, this'll shut down their carry
Ignite - FIRST BLOOD, enough said?
Teleport - You just saved that tower, or you saved that Teemo, or maybe you saved Shaco?? I don't know, it's a good spell for most champions is what I know.

Non-Viable Spells
Rally - Not a good summoner spell overall after nerf ages ago, I recommend not getting this, not your role to grab this either.
Fortify - Leave it to the tank, unless you want to tank or save turrets]
Clarity - Well...it's useless late game after you get your Banshee's Veil, or did you get a Manamune? Either way, it's useless to you.
Clairvoyance - Leave this to your support.
Revive - Do I REALLY have to go over this??

5. Pros / Cons

Pros:
*Sexy as a beast
*Has an awesome weapon
*Great initiator
*Good off-tank
*Fun

Cons:
-A little weak early game
-If you use your E before you ult and get trapped with a heavy hitter, you're screwed.
-Needs a nude skin in my opinion

6. Working in the team

With this Jarvan build, you can fullfill many roles:
- initating teamfights
- isolate the enemy
- help your team catching up or flee
- stay alive to support with you auras

Be careful when using your ultimate, so you don't emprison your fleeing teammtes or leave your other melees out, also look out for champions with Flash or escape abilities, try to make them waste them before you chose to catch them.
