Introduction
The rune choices should be those for any Jax for now.(Until dodge runes are taken out of the game.) Most people think that jax runs on completly attack power and attack speed that is definatly now how jax works. Jax is actually a blend of these two all of his moves excluding his Ultimate, all do magic damage yet at the same time do physical damage also excluding his counter. So the magic penetration and ability power are very useful and the dodge runes ofcourse power his ult and his counter both are very useful.
These masteries are very important because they all either do ability power attack damage or penetration.(Excluding the cool downs and defence.) The magic penetration and armor penetration helps because in battles fighting tanks jax can break right through their defence and take them down so the rest of your team can focus the DPS of their team. While with the cool down reduction helps in 1 on 1 fights so when they are waiting for their skills again you are already using empower and your ult is doing the three hit magic damage. Finally the armor and magic resistance are saving you from their DPS whatever they might do from doing massive damage to you.
These are good for dominion because you use the ghost for chasing people down or running to certain places. Then we have the flash that is useful for defending turrets against more then one person by hitting them and then flashing so the turret hits them for the life and usually after you leap strike people they target you and try and kill you iniating the part where you destroy them by flashing other side of turret and maybe countering if you have it to keep them in its range. Also the flash can be used to leap strike someone in the turret and then flashing out to avoid getting killed.
Alright if you notice I actually have 7 items that can be used that's because the doran's shield can be optional to sell for the Rylai's Crystal Scepter. It is not needed though because the build is already very expensive but if you can build to it then it would increase your damage output and health a lot. Then we have the Ninja Tabi and that increases your dodge which this is jax I don't need to explain that. Then Guinsoo's rageblade is useful for your ultimate because every third hit deals magic damage so the faster your attack speed the more times that happens per battle. Then we have Sheen it has a passive that after every ability you deal double your attack damage. Hextech Gunblade their are ways to go with this for the build you could get the revolver and then build into lichbane or Deathcap but i prefer having the attack damage, life steal, and spell vamp they will keep you alive longer in battles. Then the rest of these increase ability power or damage which increase your health by how much that damage or magical damage.
The Leap Strike is first because it has the potential to do the most damage early game. And the empower is useful because you use it before the leap strike to deal extra damage. Then we have the counter which you dont need to build much until late game because you already get plenty of dodge from your runes and Ninja tabi so the extra dodge helps but isn't needed. Then we have the Ult you should always get your ult at level 6 because that is where alot of your damage output comes from.
Okay Most people I see when playing against other jax think they are invincible or something and jump right into battle. This is not what jax needs to do he needs to let a tank initiate and stay back hitting people power hits dropping their life fast but never really jumping right into battle because with my experience when you do everyone on other team says look its jax kill him and they attack you all at same time usually killing you. So pretty much stay behind your tank and let him take the hits while you put out the damage with him.
Alright I've been looking at some of these other jax builds and they go attack speed and critical strike... That is not how jax is supposed to be played it wont help out and of his actual skills. So really just don't use critical I usually go about 10-2-4 is the average of my last games with jax so he works perfectly well without critical better most likely.
