Everything about him from his passive to his ultimate was made for jungling. Of course runes help immensely. Also I used to be a fan of getting vamp scepter as my first item and just afk farm the jungle till 6. Its a totally viable path for him. But seeing as aggressive jungling is so popular nowadays, I wouldn't recommend it. You can still do it its just risky. Maokai, for example, can have every one of his abilities blocked. Fiora, on the other hand, can out-duel him every day of the week. He's relatively strong at 1v1s (and as such, contesting buffs), but again, it depends who he's against. In team fights, he contributes well in terms of having CC and an initiate on your off tank. He's good for 'scaring' people away with his E, too. You have the choice of running from your team's carries or being feared near them. I need to pick Nocturne up again.
