Hi!So...i've been playing Kennen for quite a while now and won almost every game with him.He is my favorite champion and is fun to play.I hope this guide helps.

-Has energy(mana is for noobs)

-Doesnt really have an escape tool( Lightning Rush is somewhat useful)

-He can be countered by some champions

Pretty much the standard caster setup.

Just get what you want really.....i played him for months with greater seal of replenishment and still did well so its up to you..i like a mix of AP,Magic Penetration and survivability.

Flash:i get this with EVERY champion.Its the best summoner spell and has saved my life so many times.

Ignite:You will see this often in mid.Get one yourself for the dps boost and to stop annoying healers (eg. Dr. Mundo)

You can swap Ignite and get something else if you want but i prefer these.

Mark of the Storm is Kennens passive ability.Your every spell hit or every 5th auto attack(if you have Electrical Surge) will place a mark of the storm on the enemy it hits.When they have 3 marks,they get stunned.Simple.As you look into kennens abilities,you will see that its a bit more complicated,but you will get used to it.

Now,this is serious.You want to take the mid lane.If you cant mid,try solo top.Just farm,farm,harass,farm,harass.....and when you get them low(1/2 or 2/3 hp) try to go for the kill.Help bot or top if needed and watch out for their jungler(If they have one) and other possible threats.

At the early stages,use Thundering Shuriken and auto attack for the last hit.Later on, Lightning Rush into the minions,press Electrical Surge and just look at that gold.

Its just a term for doing demage to your opponent without really engaging him.Kennen is good at this with:

a)His thundering sjuriken spell.Try to position yourself so even if you miss the enemy,you get a last hit on a minion.The shuriken has long range and a cool animation,so you will never get bored of spamming it.

b) Electrical Surge.This is my favorite.It has a passive and an active effect.Passive:Every 4 attacks,Kennen's next hit applies a mots(mark of the storm,i talked about it) to the enemy it hits.Now,the Active :Hits all enemies that have a mots on them and are in range.So,you attack the minions till you have the passive on(the shuriken in your hand is covered in elecricity),attack the opponent with a right click,then press w and get out of there.You can combine this with Lightning Rush and get a stun off,or even hit htem with Thundering Shuriken if you have the space.
