Kennen - Pikachu has evolved!

Hello, this is my second guide so please cut some slack. I purchased Kennen about a week ago, and I have to say... He is one of the best champions in the game. Although Elementz throws him in Tier 2, Kennen is perfect for 1!. First, lets go through some abilities that Kennen has.

Kennen's Abilities and Tips

(Innate): Kennen's abilities add Marks of the Storm to opponents which last for 12 seconds. Upon receiving 3 Marks of Storm, an opponent is stunned for 1 second and Kennen receives 25 energy. Mark of the Storm has a diminished stun effect if applied more than once within 7 seconds.

This is Kennens passive. Summed up, if you get 3 mark of the storms on an enemy champion (From any of your abilities, and every 5th auto attack once you have your Electrical Surge leveled). Very useful for Stunlocking people (Stunning them over and over again)

(Active): Kennen throws a fast moving shuriken towards a location, causing damage and adding a Mark of the Storm to any opponent that it hits.

This is Kennens Q. It is a skillshot with 900 range (It goes a little bit further than what it shows on the skill) Thundering Shuriken's damage is like so: 75 / 115 / 155 / 195 / 235 (+0.66 per ability power). With a good amount of AP, this will nuke people for 1/4 of their health!

(Passive): Every 5 attacks, Kennen deals magic damage equal to a percentage of his attack damage and adds a Mark of the Storm to his target.
(Active): Surges electricity through all nearby targets afflicted by Mark of the Storm, dealing magic damage and adding another mark.
Magic Damage: 65 / 95 / 125 / 155 / 185 (+0.55 per ability power)

This is Kennens W. It is an Active-Passive ability, which is EXTREMELY useful in early game harassment. If you can tag an enemy with a MotS, press W when close enough, and it will shock them for a decent amount of damage. A VERY useful strategy with Kennen's abilities is that if you tag a stealthed unit, you can press W to see exactly where they are, and toss another Shuriken if possible.

(Active): Kennen moves very fast and gains the ability to pass through units, dealing magic damage and adding a Mark of the Storm to any hostile unit he passes through.

Kennen is refunded 40 energy if he passes through an enemy while using this spell, but can only gain this effect once. Lightning Rush deals half damage to minions. Lightning Rush provides magic resistance and armor for 4 seconds
Magic Damage: 85 / 125 / 165 / 205 / 245 (+0.55 per ability power)

This is Kennen's E. It is a simple active ability, that can net you an easy kill at level 4. This is a very useful escaping skill, as well as an initiating ability. I would not reccommend Lightning Rushing into a team UNLESS you have a Zhonya's Ring. This will be explained in Kennen's Ultimate.

(Active): Kennen summons a magical storm that deals magic damage to a random enemy champion near Kennen every 0.5 seconds. This storm attacks up to a few times and cannot hit the same target more than 3 times. A Mark of the Storm is applied to enemies each time they are hit.
Magic Damage: 80 / 145 / 210 (+0.4 per ability power)

This is Kennen's Ultimate. You will need to get this whenever possible (Levels 6,11 and 16) because this does a ton of damage. When is level 1, it is only really useful against one enemy. When it is level 2, however, you can go to TWO people. Once it is level 3, you can start doing damage in teamfights. Because this ability is not channeled, you can cast right after you activate it. Just note that once you activate , you cannot move!

General Kennen Gameplay Tips

Kennen can be built many ways. Either tank, DPS or AP. This build will be focusing on AP, as that is when I believe Kennen is the most powerful.

Try to take mid, as at level 6, Kennen can begin ganking very efficiently. Grab a , and a health potion. Now, here you may be asking: "Why don't you just get HP quints and AP glyphs and start of with an Amplifying Tome?". That is simple. gives decent armor, decent hp regen, and great health, so it will allow you to stay in Mid longer. If you absolutely HAVE to go back due to low HP, try to get a switch on mid, or just tele back to mid after buying sorc. shoes. Harrass as much as possible with your & combo, going in with ONLY when you feel safe. That is how you easily land a stun, and a couple auto attacks. As soon as you hit level 6, put that to good use. If you see enemy champions pushing a lane very well, tell your team to get ready, and teleport right on a minion ,and go in with , and finally . Mid game you want to keep ganking. You should now have your Mejais SoulStealer, and hopefully a couple items for your . Late game you should (hopefully) be fully built. Try to get a teamfight going, and do your + . Your ultimate will continue to kill everyone around you, while your team stomps on them.

Summoner Spells on Kennen


- A great escape abilty. If you can time this correctly, you could also get a free kill.

- An overall good spell. If you see a tower getting butt-rushed by a ton of minions, teleport to it, and FARM ALL OF THEM with your E and W.

- You could use this paired with your Lightning Rush, but it already provides a speed boost

- Useful for those lifesteal DPS or even killing someone

- Want a kill? If an enemy is narrowly escaping, toss this on them, and you get a free stun.

- Teleport is not entierly needed, so you could grab this instead and reveal Baron, or even a possible gank!

- A replacment for Teleport. If you're introuble, Cleanse, Flash and finally LIGHTNING RUSH to safety!


- If you consider this, you are stupid.

- You are a caster/carry. Let a support grab this.

- This is a AP build, not an AD build.

- Refer to Clarity.
