Introduction
This is a great amumu commentary as you will see "Ciderhelm" thrive as lane amumu
P.S Sorry if this isn't detailed enough :\
Runes! In this chapter I will explain my choices in runes.
Greater Mark of Insight: This gives you enhanced abilitys starting out.
Alternative: Armor (tanky oomph)
Greater Seal of Resilience: Armor. Every tank has to have some sort of armor and this will help improve your laning phase and it helps against AD.
Alternative: Flat Mana Regen (Amumu can get mana hungry if you are aggresive)
Greater Glyph of Shielding: Since you are tanky, you will need the MR. Why not flat MR you say? Well because you've reached the same amount at lvl 10 and you almost have double you get from flat MR.
Alternative: Ability Power (Helps early on)
Greater Quintessence of Potency: This will give you the extra oomph you need starting out the game to do more damage.
Alternative: Health (It doesn't matter which quint you take I like both of them)

Title explains itself! I will explain my choices of items in this chapter.
Boots of Swiftness: You need to be fast to hurt them with your despair it's also good for chasing
Rod of Ages: Amumu will need the mana, health, and ability power big time. This is a necessary
Frozen Heart: This is extremely useful and will stop those pesky AD carries like: Kog Maw, Ashe, Graves, Ezreal etc. etc.
Rylai's Crystal Scepter: More health and more AP! It also has a fun passive.
Deathfire Grasp: You are going to counter those other tanks and you will need the AP to really dish out the pain.
Rabadon's Deathcap: This is really going to boost your AP and you will do way more damage.

My reasoning behind my choice of summoner spells
Flash: Amumu doesn't really have any affective escape skills so this will help you alot.
Ignite: For the early game kills if they also have flash or good escape abilities just pop this on them as they are running away and BOOM, first blood.

Believe me, I've seen alot of bad lane Amumus out there. They always mess up their bandage tosses and waster their mana so quickly. I will teach you not do that
To land a successful bandage toss you can't be derpin around in lane trying to hit them front on, a minion will most likely block it and it will be a waste of mana. You want to go into their bushes if availible, and use it from the side, stun him, and watch you and your partner dish out some damage.
The key to not losing mana is to not be aggresive. Only attack when you know you can kill them or make them go b. Don't forget to last hit either. I wouldn't use my abilites on the creeps until I get my RoA which will provide me the mana to do so. Just a simple W, then E, and a few headbutts to farm.
