Introduction

This is designed to be a Tanky/DPS Lane build for Volibear, focusing on survivability while taking advantage of his abilities scaling off of health to do a good amount of DPS. Volibear's role is an initiator by running in and flipping out weak targets into your team and being able to take a load of damage he is a key asset to any team.
*Note if you are looking for a jungle build this may be viable with the new jungle system however it is not designed towards a jungle build.

*Forgive the format of this guide, it is my first and was put together rather quickly, so I could go test it more. Stay tuned for updates.

Runes

I take Armor marks, Health Seals, Magic Resist Glyphs and Movement Speed Quints.
This is designed for increased survivability early game while we are still building our core build. I take movement speed quints to help engage and chase targets to ensure kills. (Other viable options are Health Quints)

Summoner Spells

I take exhaust to slow down enemies for easier initiations and also for the decreased armor and magic resistance gained from the mastery. Ghost is an obvious choice for Volibear to catch fleeing enemies for an easy flip.

Skill Sequence

Skill Overview


Chosen of the Storm(Passive): When at critical low health you start to quickly regenerate health for a short period of time. This is useful in 1v1, it can be enough to finish off your enemy if it is a close fight. Also used to bait weak enemies into certain death.
*Note: After this is activated it has a cool down timer before it can activate again.
Rolling Thunder (Q): Used to initiate by charging in and flipping an enemy behind you.
Frenzy (W): Increases attack speed on consecutive hits, after 3 hits can be activated to do damage based on health percentage and the health missing from the enemy.
Majestic Roar (E): Used to slow nearby enemies usually after flipping. Also used to farm minions with an added fear.
Thunder Claws (R): Adds a chain lightning effect to your attacks. Used as added damage.

Importance of Skills: R>W>E>Q
I take W first for early dueling, taking advantage of my passive to help win 1v1s and get first blood. For more passive players take E first to farm minions and control lane.

Skill Sequence in fights is: Q to close distance and initiate with flip, then E to slow, save W for finishing off enemies.

Team Work

If you are getting pushed back on your tower by aggressive enemies a good trick is to use Q to flip them towards your tower and then slow them with E and between the tower, your lane partner and your own damage it should be an easy kill, if not double kill. This is especially useful if your lane partner has a stun or some form of CC to hit them with after they are in tower range.
