I don't like the Frozen Mallet because I don't believe it to be worth the large investment in 3s. It gives a lot of health, sure, but teamfights are generally quick in Twisted Treeline. The Atma's Impaler goes along with that high health/high armor theme, which this build isn't about. I feel like this build is a fusion between Tryn and Yi - high Crit Chance, high Life Steal, and high Attack Speed. His ulti lets him get in and out of fights without hindrance, while his 'W' allows for unparalleled health regeneration. If you're healing back to full every hit, why do you need high health or armor?

If I were to add those items, this would look too much like an 'Atmog' build, and I don't want that. I'm trying to promote a completely original, new way of playing this champion. :)

I still don't agree with your item section as pure AD is too squishy for a melee champion that does not have a gap closer. In addition to that Olaf is lacking some real CC (Undertow is nice but not awesome). If you don't like Atmog's you could try Frozen Mallet + Atma's Impaler. It's providing you some defense, boosting your damage and a constant slow for your attacks. If players can't escape or you kill it means more damage for you, great, hm?

The rest of the guide is really good. The layout is acceptable but I see the work you have been investing in it. Maybe you can add a more in-depth section about how to play him as it is essential for now players.

Would be a +1 if you follow my suggestion. ;)

Will do, thanks :)

I just tried a few 'Atmogs' games, and I didn't like it. Olaf was super tanky and did consistent high damage, but I prefer my build... hm.

Thank you for the feedback everybody. I, honestly, haven't tried the 'Atmogs' build yet, but I'll be sure to in the future. With this build, my Olaf is scary throughout the game, whereas it seems that an 'Atmogs' Olaf isn't a threat until he gets his Atma's and Warmog's. Again, like I said in my intro, I'm only level 23. I've still much to learn. I try and compensate for the lack of survivability through health by stacking Crit Chance and Life Steal. I remember a game where I was critting for 1500s and healing to full every strike when Vicious Strikes was up. Ever since then I've been using this build. Hmm. Again, thank you for the feedback :)

edit: +rep to Ssyrak and reppinFTC, credited you both in the guide as well :P

reppinFTC already said it in some way. Building Olaf in pure AD is (in my opinion) a bad idea. Especially Olaf got a huge use out of life due to his W. That makes item like Frozen Mallet very dangerous on him. Especially the combination of Warmogs and Atmas (called Atmogs) is something I can highly recommend. The life you gain + the increased damage by using Atmas + W (what you can keep up most of the fights) is amazing. And this makes Olaf to a real danger. Because Olaf got no real gap closer he can be killed to easy otherwise.

And PLEASE: Good Hands >>> Perseverance

PS: I don't recommend publishing a guide before it's finished as it is a invite for trollers to downvote. Or at least use the "comment to vote" option. I won't vote for your guide as long as it isn't complete. So when you are done please send me a PN (read my signature ;) )

You have a very interesting build but I can hardly see it being effective. Olaf is a tanky dps and you have chosen to build him with little to no survivability. Not to mention, Olaf is also a champion that can be kited VERY VERY VERY easily, and you have opted not to invest in Frozen Mallet, an item that I heavily recommend on Olaf. Another thing I would suggest is taking Awareness over Expansive Mind. Yes, Olaf is mana hungry, but Expansive Mind gives him very little benefit as opposed to Awareness . Though unfinished, I like your formatting.

This is personal opinion but why dont you get expanded mind? the jungler is constantly under leveled without it. +1

Very nice and clean layout, whit some really nice details. About the build, I wonder why you don't go for some more tanky items, that gives you a little more health, so that your Reckless Swing won't drop you to quick. I am a big fan of Olaf myself, and I do play him alot, and IMO a impaler+warmog is better than any other builds. As you haven't yet explained why you decided to go with this items; I might therefore be wrong, as I guess you have a reason for building that AD?
