Introduction

I am a big time Lulu Support player. I have played her since release and I main support recently. I have seen Lulu picked up in competitive play recently so I thought I would throw my guide on Mobafire. I am a 1400-1500 Elo player (season 2). The play style you need to play Lulu as is poke and push. Lulu is probably the best zoner support in the game. The way i have everything sent up you do damage and protect your carry. The whole point of Lulu is to be aggressive and get your carries the kills.

Masteries

As Support Lulu I got 9-0-21. You need to have the 1 point in Summoners Wrath because it lowers the Armor and MR of the person you exhaust. This is key to picking up any kill. The 3 points in AP will help early game because most carries and most supports wont have any MR, making you a big time damage dealer. Lulu's cool-downs are average. By that I mean her shield is about as long as a janna shield and her damage is about the same as a leona shield. But the 4 points in cool-down is nice and it goes for what you really want. The 10% magic pen. This just increases your damage even more. Then the 21 in the green tree is normal for a support.

Skills

You always and I mean ALWAYS level up your Q (glitter lance) first. It does so much damage it puts a slow down and it can be the difference between kill and their AD just barley escaping. The shield/poke (E) is important. If you lost your advantage early, I recommend putting a second point into E so you take a little less damage. TO me your W is only good for 1 thing. That is to turn KAT (if enemy team has one) into a freaking CUPCAKE. Polymorph is nice, but really it doesn't really help or last to long. In team fights just W any person you can get close to. Probably the enemy top lane as they charge your AD carry. Your Ult is AMAZING. I recommend using it on your top laner during team fights as they charge for a high target. But if your AD is getting chunked fast use it on them.

Runes

Magic Pen red, this is where people could disagree with me. I like magic pen reds because it increase your damage by so much and really helps you own your lane. The armor yellows are key to success too. They are your only armor defense so you will need this to have some protection of the AD carry in lane. Dont worry only having armor yellows your should be fine. Only case where you may have problems is vs a janna support or a draven ad carry. The AP per level helps a lot for damage. Lulu is a very high damage support early levels with NO AP, but late game not so much. So the AP per levels really help bring your damage to late game. Last the GP10 Quints are key to any support. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO LEARN SUPPORT YOU NEED THERE QUNITS!

Items

Standard Items for support are built on lulu. Some people like to build AP on her but I really think with the AP per level runes you dont need them at all. The only AP item i would debate on taking is get a Kages Lucky Pick before the Ageis of the Legion because it is an extra GP10 item and it really helps your damage. Plus there is always the definite of MORE MONEY=MORE WARDS. There is one more change i may do. If your team IS MOSTLY AD build the Zekes BEFORE the Ageis. This will increase damage through the team and really will be the difference between a won team fight and a lose.

AS A SUPPORT ALWAYS HAVE ROOM TO BUY WARDS. BUY WARDS AND WARD EVERYWHERE. It is key to any victory.

Lulu's Job in Fights

Lulu was one key job. ULT the guy diving for their AD carry and PROTECT your Ad carry. She has a slow with her Q, a shield with her E, and a "bind" (polymorph) with her W. Those are three perfect abilities to use to protect the carry. First thing you do is slow (Q) the person coming for the AD carry. Then you shield (E) your ad carry so they get more health and a little extra damage. And last once the person starts to attack your ad carry you polymorph (W) them. The only difference to this combo is if the enemy team has a katarina. Then you should really safe your W for when kat ults in the middle of your team.
