Introduction
I have decided to write this guide because I feel that there is a serious lack of guides for players looking to play an ap carry Lux. So I'm making this guide to educate the lot of you in how I build and play Lux so that she is just as, or even more so intimidating then any other character in the game. In this guide I'll go over the general strategy behind Lux's early and late game, the reasoning behind my item choices, and also some strategies to apply to both getting kills and getting around some of Lux's major flaws.
(Work in progress, however feel free to use the build :p)
Every champion has it's pros and cons, and Lux is by far no exception.
Pros: Lux is a ranged AP character, that when built right can just melt faces left and right. She has incredible range on all of her skills and because of this and her high damage output she can make a wonderful poker before any team fight. Also her skills are all set to be a support character, so she has cc left and right, and also a shield that blocks quite a bit of damage. As an added bonus all of her skills mark her targets with a debuff that she can proc. to deal a decent amount of extra damage. And on top of all of this her ultimate is great for getting kills or just taking a big chunk of hp out of an enemy team before a fight, and with it's range can be used to clean up after as well.
Cons: I know I made Lux sound like a gift from god in the last paragraph, but you can be sure I'm not unrealistic about her SERIOUS flaws. Lux was not really meant to be the AP carry that I use her as, she is indeed a SUPPORT. Because of this Lux has a lot of flaws that make it hard to carry and even mid. First of all, and this is the bane of all Lux ap carries, is that her cool down time extremely long. Even with all of the cool down you're getting from your runes if you attempt to nuke anyone you're out of the fight for about 10 seconds, and this really sucks in the course of things. On top of this the mana cost on her skills is really high as well. Around level 11 you'll start to notice that all of your skills cost over 100 mana a cast, and if you're not careful you'll find yourself looking at an easy ultimate kill with no mana to use it. One final thing about Lux's flaws before we get to things is her movement speed. You have long range for a reason and it's because with boots you move at a 385, which many champions are faster then without a movement bonus other then boots. So putting all of this together always be wary of over extending, because if you get caught there's not much you can do other then nuke and hope for a kill.
