My idea of how Lux is supposed to be played

I see Lux as almost a pure support with the ability to hit hard when needed. Lux should never be focusing on one single champion in a Team Fight. Lux's double snare and AoE root/bomb make her a dominate team fight controller. I like to call Lux a Control rather than a support.

How to play Control Lux

In early game it is all about how your enemies and your teammate in your lane. There are three ways to play a lane. Defensive(Tower hugging), Neutral(Bush Camping), Aggressive(Enemy Turret).
If Lux is paired with another strong ranged class such as Swain, they can play very aggressively while dropping to neutral for mana. (I highly suggest one of you get a Chalice EARLY probably Swain because of his passive). If lux is paired with say a melee it depends on their capabilities of pushing.

In the long run it is all about the current situation at hand. Just always remember you are a support with great harassing capabilities. Don't be afraid to use a little mana.

Near mid game you should start seeing groups of 3-5 players roaming now. You need to stick with as many teammates as possible. The more the merrier. That is because of your Prismatic Barrier. The more teammates you can hit with that life saving boomerang in a team fight, the better.

Nothing from mid to late game really changes besides you being a bit more sturdy of a Control. You should be keeping blue buff on as much as possible to reduce your Ultimate cool-down to nearly nothing. That being said use your Ultimate as much as possible. It has a very low cool-down and a very low cost. Now the team fights should be 4-5 always. You should be focusing on snaring the carries more than anything else but anything that isn't ranged is a worthy snare. Don't forget that your Lucent Singularity may be a bomb you really need the slow more sometimes. Do not get an itchy trigger finger and blow it, literally.

Items

Doran's Ring(Mana Potion) - Survivability, MP/5
Merc Treads - Survivability (Sorc boots optional less survivability).
Catalyst - Leveling restores HP/MP
RoA - Survivability without losing damage.
Void Staff - Magic Pen.
Haunted Guise - Survivability and Magic Pen.
Guardians Angel - Active in team fights longer.

Summoner Spells

Clairvoyance - Line up ultimate, scouting (Bushes, jungle, Baron, dragon).
Ghost - Escape and engage quickly

Skills

Keep binding at level one until the end because we don't need it for damage and the duration doesn't increase.
Use bomb to farm creep and try to hit champions with as well.
Boomerang is saved for an oh shxx button try to hit as many people. If you are running away throw it in the direction you are running for a faster shield. (Shield initiates on throw AND catch for Lux).
