Introduction

Hello, its my first guide on MobaFire. Appeared a desire after i tried this build for maokai this evening. Its the build i am about t present now.

NOTE: This Maokai build is perfect if you are facing a powerfull AD team, as I had for example, pretty fed Tryndamere, Garen and Pantheon.

Masteries & Summoner Spells

In short i shall say that I used masteries mostly based on defense, since Maokai is more of a tank then AP, thought AP build rocks as well.

As for summoner spells, i choose ghost and clarify. His movement speed is quite slow, since fist i prefer to buy Eleisa's Miracle for a boost of mana & hp regen.

Clarity I find usefull, as i use Sapling toss to the max!!

Skill Sequence

First skill I choose Sapling Toss and strike them from afar!
Second goes Twisted advantage, it might help you pretty much at low levels with first blood.
Third goes Arcane Smash, with this combination of his 3 skills you can easily defend an escaping ally or escape by yourself.

As the "plus" above ulti appears i choose it, you never know when you might need it. First i did underestimate this skill, but now i see that it helps a lot in both team fights and kill steals:P So max it once you have such a possibility.

First skill to max i choose the sappling, by then i buy myself sorcerers shoes and deal some damage, then follows Twisted advantage in order to increase the duration of immobility.

Items

First I buy Doran's ring, for a small boost of his passive, some mana regen and ability points.

Second -> Eleisa's Miracle for a pretty good regen at both hp and mana.

Third -> sorcerers shoes, for a bit more damage with ulti or the sapplings.

Forth -> Rog of Ages, more hp, mana and the main source of Ability (its a build of a tank isn't it?)

Fifth -> Thornmail if you are facing some strong/fed AD or a Rylai Scepter instead.

Sixth -> Forces of nature if you are facing some strong AP or buy Abyssal Scepter.

Instead of Doran's ring -> in this build I've chosen Randuin's Omen, granting a lot of Armor and hp regen allowing you to use Maokai's ulti to the max!!! But you might want to take Void Staff or Rabadon's Deathcap for some magical Damage.
