Granite Shield (PASSIVE)
Malphite Passive Ability
Introduction
Granite Shield (Passive)
This is the best passive in the game. Why? ... It gives you a shield that absorb damage depending of your max HP (10%). It recharges in 8 seconds. Is it sufficient?
Seismic Shard (Q)
This skill is good. It steals movement speed to the enemy (30% at lvl 5). It's nice when you are chasing a enemy. It has a good CD and a decent damage.
Brutal Strikes (W)
(Passive): A % of Malphite's attack damage hits near enemies to the current target
(Active): Malphite's armor and damage increase by a %.
This is a very nice skill, I'm goind to explain why:
When you're destroying a turret, active this skill to do more damage.
When you're being attacked, active this skill to get more defense.
Before use Ground Slam, use this skill to cause more damage with Ground Slam.
Do you see now why is a nice skill?
Ground Slam (E)
My favorite skill. 70% of Malphite's armor is added to the damage of this skill. Also reduces attack speed of damaged enemies.
With Frozen Heart for the CD, Brutal Strikes and the items I put, I reached about 600 of damage. Remember that this is a guide/build to pure tank Malphite, so 600 damage for a tank is a very decent damage I think.
Unstoppable Force (R)
The Malphite's Ult. It's awesome. It has a decent damage and stuns enemies. With the skills combo (R -> W -> E -> Q) the enemies won't escape and will be seriously damaged

Pros
+High defense wich has many benefits to Malphite (Passive, Ground Slam)
+Lane control when Malphite is used correctly
+Ground Slam's damage increase with defense
+Great Ult with Stun
+Best passive
+Malphite can vs 2 perfectly (except 2 mages, but all is possible)
+Sunfire Cape + Ground Slam = 10 minions dead
Cons
-Mana problems at early game
-At mid game, you're a ult dependent except you're well equipped
-Starting playing with Malphite requires to know the range of Ground Slam
-Low slow

I think at early-mid game Malphite has problems with mana, because of this I have chosen Clarity. For Malphite Clarity is also useful at late game.
The second spell I think is good is Ghost. It's because Malphite has a decent damage and high defense but, unless his oponent is a noob, Malphite is incapable to kill someone with his combo skills, repeat, unless his oponent is a n00b or has low life.

My skill sequence is: R - E - Q - W
Maxing E is the best choice to the first kills in early game, with some lvls of Q.
At lvl 5 I always chose W because of the passive and sometimes the active helps me to kill someone or simply to destroy turrets faster.
Don't waste your R in low-health enemies. You can finish him with Q - W - E and auto attacks, and if you get Sunfire cape he/she is instantly dead (Just kidding).

In team fights, you always do the first step, your R. I always notice to my team that I'm prepared to crash with the enemies.
And remember to keep the R always on. Don't use It if you really don't need it.
As a tank, Malphite is capable to tank a enemy turret by himself. Try to notice to your team that you can tank the turret without minions. It's a big help.

The most interesting part.
Start buying a Doran's Shield + HP Pot.
In the first recall, buy Boots of Swiftness and start building Sunfire Cape
After the sunfire cape, if you have problems with mages, start building Force of Nature, but normally I build it at the end.
The thornmail is a great item. If the oponent team has Yi and/or Try, try to build Thornmail.
After this, it's time to build the Frozen Heart and kick some butts.
Finally, if the oponent Team is a mix of mages and fighters, build the Guardian Angel.
If the team oponent is most based on fighters, build Randuin's Omen
Remember that Malphite benefits of the physical defense, but if you have to sacrifice some defense to put Magic R. Items don't worry.
