I feel like getting Spirit Visage is quite a waste. Just imagine how much you can improve your tanking with many other viables for tanking.
The healing increase that you defend it by, is a matter of an extra 1,05 %, and requires 5 spells and an auto-hit. I just don't think it's worth it. The only reason for this item to be usefull would be if you have a healer by your side, and thus I feel this item should be put as an occasional item, since there are many other items that can do better than Spirit Visage, defensively speaking. Obviously it's viable in the form of HP and CD Reduction, however you already get 20 % from Frozen Heart, and getting a Blue Buff will already here lead you to the 40 %. 42 % to be exact, but the cap is at 40 %, so yeah. (Don't quote me on Blue giving 22 % though. Just read that somewhere - in any case, it should bring to at least close to 40 %).

Aside from this, I can only say: Heal shouldn't be recommended by anyone at all. It is absolutely for no use late game compared to other Summoner Spells. Even getting Exhaust only to put it on the enemy carry would be more usefull than Heal. If you have problems with dying, and feel like you NEED Heal, then maybe you should think about changing your playstyle a bit. Playing tanky, you really shouldn't have that hard a time surviving this and that.

Finally, I find the Movement Speed Quintessence a little randomly placed. In my eyes, it doesn't serve such a great purpose. Getting a full 3 of them together with the Utility Movement Speed Mastery might be viable, but not for Maokai anyway, so why get any of them at all? I'd say you lose early game bulkiness by not getting the last Fortitude Quint.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, the movespeed quint and Heal are personal preference and I give alternatives in the guide. I used the movespeed quint back when his base speed was 305%, never bothered to replace it, and now I'm too used to it. I suppose removing everything related to personal preference in the guide would help a bit.

I believe the cooldown reduction from Blue Buff scales, I've seen it give less than 22% and sometimes a bit more, like 22.5%

As for the spirit visage, I mostly get it for the MR to even out my defensive stats. Granted, there's probably better items for that, but again, too used to it.

I'm not very good with experimentation and variety, too paranoid of people yelling at me.

And that is why I don't play ranked.
