Since Lich Bane also gives 80 AP, you end up with 240 AP.

Which means 480 damage from Lich Bane.

While Triforce gives %250 of your base attack damage(%150 boost), which is 275.

Trinity force gives more bang for the buck, and unless you're getting a deathcap the lich bane will hardly give more damage (it might even give less).

Trinity Force's proc ends up being better than Lich Bane's proc unless you run ability power runes, and even then with trinity force Maokai's auto attack is more likely to crit. I also like trinity force's other benefits better than lich bane's (movement speed, health). That late into the game 80 ap does not make that much of a difference considering Maokai's relatively poor scaling and the fact that people are going to have a ton of resistance by that time.
