Master Yi Passive Ability
Introduction
To start the game off you're going to want to put one point into Alpha Strike to start off because with the Long Sword you will be doing enough damage that you won't need your Wuju Style just yet. After you get Alpha Strike for your first level, grab Wuju Style for level 2 and 3. Level 4 grab another point in Alpha Strike and then Wuju Style at level 5, then your ultimate at 6. After 6, max your E and Q as fast and you can grabbing your ultimate whenever you can, max Meditate last.
At the start you want to buy a Long Sword and a health potion, this helps with your early game damage and lets you build into Wriggles which helps for easy farming and jungling. When you go back, if you've farmed up enough gold you should be able to get your Madreds Razors and your Boots of Speed, if not, just got boots and then go for Madreds. Then go back and farm some more, when you get back to base after farming some more you should complete your Wriggles and Boots, this gives you some Attack Speed and Damage and Armor, the Armor helps with your survivability. The lifesteal and the passive helps with farming too. After your Wriggles get Zeal as fast as you can, the Crit and Attack Speed is nice and the movement speed never hurts. After that, get Infinity Edge, once you complete this you should be hitting like a truck, then once you get full Phantom Dancers you should be ripping down squishies in no time. After that, get Black Cleaver because you don't need anymore Crit really. The armor reduction on the Black Cleaver helps alot for taking down tanks and basically makes you do True damage to squishies with your Armor Pen Runes. You can then get a Bloodthirster, which by the time you get this, you should be ripping down most of their team no problem. You will want to get rid of your Wriggles for Bloodthirster. After you get your Bloodthirster get another Phantom Dancer, once you get your second Phantom Dancer you should be almost maxing out your Attack Speed.
Optional: Get Madreds Bloozrazor if they have tanky DPS/Tanks on their team.
Examples: Xin Zhao, Alistar, Garen, Jarvan IV, Lee Sin, Renekton, etc..

Defensive Items are very important. If you don't buy atleast one or two defensive items you will not get very far without dying.
Here is a list of possible Defensive Items a Yi could buy.
Banshee's Veil - Health, Mana and Magic Resist, and if they have a stun that could knock you down in an instant, it could possible block that which may save your life.
Guardian Angel - If they have a variety of AD and AP, it always helps to have another life too.
Randuin's Omen - Helps if you're against more than two AD on the enemy team, could possible win most fights 1v1 because of the AS slow.
Thornmail - Basically negates a lot of damage from Attack Damage Carries, which, in turn may save your life and win you more 1v1's.

Master Yi is a very good backdoor, but you need to know when and when not to backdoor.
When to:
- The other team is pushing your base and your team can defend them themselves and you see a minion wave pushed up.
- The other team is busy defending one lane of their base.
When not to:
- If all enemies are MIA, do not backdoor.
- During teamfights.
- If you know enemies are coming after you.
- Your team needs to get dragon/baron.

For Runes I like to take ArPen Marks and Quints, Attack Speed Yellows and Magic Resist Blues. This gives you a early game edge without being too squishy. It also goes with Wriggles so you`ll have some MR and some Armor. There`s not much to say, although if you would rather be on the safe side, you could go Health Quints or Armor Yellows.
Ghost and Exhaust are by far my favorite spells, one lets you go even faster with your ult, and one helps you rip down AD carries alike.
Some other choices: Ignite - If you prefer the extra early game damage for that first blood.
Flash - If you like escape mechanisms this one`s for you, let`s you get in, get out and is all around a good spell.
Smite - Only if you`re jungling, but since this is a beginners guide I won`t explain that here.
