Mater Yi - The AP Beast!!!
I played Master Yi as a standard DPS champion for a while and found him to be a very strong character with his amazing speed and damage output, his chasing abilities as well as the ability to get out of sticky situations and I used his alpha strike on minions, to harass slightly and to deal final blows. Then I realised his potential for an AP character, and haven't gone back since.

Item Breakdown:
Boots of Speed>Sorcerer's Shoes
I take Sorcerer's Shoes for a bit of early game magic pen bit it is not greatly needed and can be swapped out for Boots of swiftness

Tear of The Goddess>Archangel's Staff
this gives you a good boost in mana regen and total mana and also boosts your AP. Just make sure you are using your abilities lots.

Mejai's Soulstealer
This is a great item for any AP build, and at max stacks should give you a nice extra 180 AP as well some cooldown reduction.

Rabadon's Deathcap
another great item for any AP build. Gives a huge 155 AP and an extra 30%!

Lich Bane
An amazing item for any high AP build, especially Master Yi. your alpha strike will get you close to your opponent, so using this with your high AP will mean that you will do a good 600+ damage with your next hit.

Void Staff
Not essential but it is a very good idea to have this item for the extra AP, some added magic pen and the active ^^

Ability breakdown:
Alpha Strike
This is your main nuke. with the AP in this build and the fact that it does 100% of your AP, this should deal 600+ damage and get you close enough to hit him with your Lich Bane and do a further 600+ damage

Meditate
This heals for 140/280/420/560/700 Health and 165% of your AP and gives you 300 armour and magic resistance. That's 1500+ healing at lvl 16 and with the AP in this build. This is perfect for: Countering harassing, staying in lanes longer and if yu are being chased on low health you can activate this and they will do less damage to you that you are healing so quite often you can regen most your health and turn around and kill them. BEWARE OF INTERUPTS WHEN USING THIS TACTIC!!!

Wuju Style
Good for pushing turrets with the active and a good boost in damage but getting it once as your 2nd ability then maxing it last is best as it allows you to max out your other abilities first

Highlander
An excellent chasing and escaping tool and good when combined with Wuju Style for taking down towers but use it mainly as a chaser.
