Why Nashor's tooth and Lich Bane?
Sona is a quick, sharp, small burster. I designed the build so you do not force her to be the type of AP Carry to single combo enemies with the spells. Sona's combo should be Q, then Power Chord, then a few auto-attacks. This build is based around that. Sona's Q when maxed also gives her 20 more attack damage, and this is putting it to use.
Nashor's Tooth
By basing the build around that combo, Nashor's Tooth becomes a decent item. It provides a lot of cooldown reduction allowing for quicker power chords and faster Q harass. Nashor's tooth strengthens autoattacks. Your power-chord is an auto-attack, and your follow up auto-attacks after power chord is also strengthened.
Lich Bane
The harass combo is Q then Power Chord. Q activates the Lich Bane, then Power Chord gets massive damage.
NOTE: Buy Nashor's tooth then Lich Bane
NOTE: Do not underetimate the bonus 20 attack damage
Q then Power Chord (then auto-attack a few times if you can). Note: If they engage on you when you reach in for the power chord and you cannot out trade them, stick with using the Q range to harass the enemy, just wait for their gap closer to go down then do the power chord combo. If you are not behind, when you finish Nashor's and start building towards Lich Bane, you should take out half of their HP with this combo.
FINISH HIM Combo
Ultimate then Q then Power Chord then a few auto-attacks. If you are not behind, this should take out 70-80%% of the HP of anyone who is squishy. If you are fed, from what I experience, the combo takes out most of their HP and they die in one auto-attack.
Have your Q up when auto-attacking. The bonus 20 attack damage is underrated.
Auto attack Note
If you have tried it, you should notice that you usually only get a max of 3 auto-attacks before they are out of your range. That is all you need to finish them off because of Nashor's and your Q aura passive, unless you are over-estimating yourself trying to combo them from a very high HP when you clearly aren't fed.
2)Sona's kit is not meant to delete enemies in one combo from full health.
3)Crescendo won't get the DFG bonus damage unless you do something weird. I prefer doing crescendo first to guarantee hit the rest of my combo, but crescendo is a split-second skill. If you try to DFG then Crescendo, the enemy may be too far for you to use it.
4) Nashor's tooth and Lich Bane allows you to kill enemies with one "combo", as in with a few auto-attacks as follow up.
