Introduction

Hey guys! For my second guide, I'm posting my all-time favorite Champion: Nocturne, the Eternal Nightmare! Oh baby, this is the coolest Champ in the game in my honest opinion.

The way I play Noct (I lovingly call Nocturne that), is attack speed, armor penetration, and crit rating. I also don't play Noct as a Jungler, as I find him too squishy to be as successful as Udyr or Trundle (just to name a few). By the end of the build, with all the rights runes, your attack speed will be a little over 2.0! Some people may not like my build because the survivability of it isn't very high. But because you hit SO hard and SO fast, you don't need too much as long as you don't jump head first into 3-5 enemy Champs!

Pros / Cons

PROS
- HIGH damage output
- HIGH attack speed
- Insane ability line-up and a SICK ultimate
- No better ganker IMO

CONS
- VERY squishy, early game and even late game
- Often becomes the focus in teamfights because of damage output
- Easy to forget his W ability, Shroud of Darkness

Summoner Spells

I design my Summoner Spell line up how I play Noct. I get in, kill, and get out. And I want to be able to do this FAST. So my top two choices are....

Ghost, as it makes your movement speed insanely high when combined with both Duskbringer AND Boots of Swiftness. The triad of Summoner Spell/Equipment/Ability allows you to get in OR out faster than any other Champion, so no worries unless you run into a gank in a bush!

Flash is my second choice. Once again, it can be used to port over a wall for quick escape, or to have an enemy Champ unfortunately fall into a gank he didn't expect.

--OTHER SUMMONER SPELLS--

Before I had Flash, I used Exhaust in combo with Ghost. Exhaust has better benefits however, in the fact that if you wanted to stand toe-to-toe with another Champ Exhaust allows you to do that, but it's still risky.

Ignite is another good choice. If you don't feel safe tower diving at times, normally you can pop Ignite and kill a Champ weakened already by your fast onslaught, or to counteract someone popping a potion to restore their lost health. However, you aren't as magnificent of an escape artist as I'd like to be.

And I may not like to Jungle with Noct, but I don't condemn those who do. So if you do Jungle with him, Take Smite over Flash.

Runes

GREATER MARK OF DESOLATION

I take 9 Armor Pen marks because I don't like being harassed by tanks in early game... -_-

GREATER SEAL OF RESILIENCE

I take 9 Armor seals for early game defense so characters like Tryndamere and Garen don't hit AS hard as they normally do.

GREATER GLYPH OF ALACRITY

Because I want to focus on how fast I hit, I take 9 Attack Speed glyphs for more *umph* beginning game.

GREATER QUINTESSENCE OF DESOLATION

And because I REALLY hate being harassed by tanks early game, I take even MORE Armor Penetration in the form of Quintessences.

Masteries

My Mastery build for Noct is built around damage. Taking all damage and critical strike increases, with a few more points in defense for increased durability. Simple, right?

Skill Sequence

Oho, now for the juiciness of what Noct is all about... his AMAZING abilities!

--Q-- DUSKBRINGER

Okay, this ability is awesome. It's a skill shot that hits anything in it's path, dealing physical damage rather than magic damage, so all that bonus attack damage from items? Yeah. It's also good for shooting fleeing Champs for that final blow, or the accidental kill steal... -_- It also can increase your attack damage and movement speed while you stay on the path it creates, making you hit HARDER, even against turrets!

--W-- SHROUD OF DARKNESS

Okay, I forget SO many times about this ability, but it ROCKS! It's pretty much a Quicksilver Sash without the additional magic resist. And for those of you who don't know what Quicksilver Sash is, it's active ability is it removes all debuffs and summoner spells immediately. Well, SoD works similar, in the fact that you pop it, and any spell that his you and would leave a DoT or Debuff, it's instantly removed and you gain increased movement speed. WOOT!

--E-- UNSPEAKABLE HORROR

This ability is just plain awesome. Similar to Fiddlestick's Terrify ability, but it has to channel for a few seconds AND you have to stay in range while it channels. But, remember all that movement speed? Yep, now you're getting it. You make SURE you're in range of them and when they're feared, you can beat the living **** outta them!

--R-- PARANOIA

This has GOT to be my favorite ult in the game. Plus, it's a tad over powered. First, you reduce your enemy's sight range to nothing; they can't see very far in front of them, and they can't see their allies. The SECOND effect, is you have an INSANE gank range. The radius is HUGE and it just gets bigger as you level.

Items

My favorite item build is this...

The reason I like this build is because it's PURE speed in every sense of the word. You get in, deal insane damage, and then you get out before you take too much damage.

There are two other builds I used that are both fairly good. In fact, one is really good....

This build is designed for a bit more survivability over speed, and it works REALLY well. The combo of both Tiamat and Sufire deal high damage over a few seconds, and your attack speed is still high with both Phantom Dancer and Black Cleaver.

This build has even MORE attack speed and movement speed with the addition of Trinity Force. However, you might be weaker with the lack of Infinity Edge, but the passive of Sheen in Trinity Force should make up for it.

All three of these builds work wonders, so you can pick and choose which you'd rather have.

Summary

All in all, there's a reason Noct is my favorite Champion. Hopefully, after trying at least one of these builds, you'll see why as well. His high damage output, his crazy fast speed, his amazing abilities and ultimate, he was designed to be the ultimate assassin.
