Introduction

This guide will allow you to take a fair beating- allowing to initiate team fights- as well as being able to deal hefty damage with Ice Blast and your ult.

This guide will not take incredible skill or knowledge of Nunu to execute and many of the items and masteries are interchangeable depending on your play style or the opposing team, this is orchestrated for solo queue-ing and against at least 3-5 mostly attack based opponent.

Masteries

This is quite a unconventional jungling build though i personally find it extremely effective, the 21st mastery in the utility spot is surprisingly useful, it allows for more opportunities both in lane and in the jungle to smite your opponent and is also handy for ghost. Again this is not majorly important and can be tailored to your liking.

Runes

Personally i love this rune page for several champions. The movement speed quintessences i feel is vital though i will explain that later, the dodge seals is also very handy because it is effective both in the jungle at the start and stacks up later on in team fights. Magic Penetration marks are also quite useful because this guide does not have any magic pen items so a little bit goes a long way. AP per level glyphs are a must have, the reason they are per level is because you be much AP based till at least level 10 when it is about as effective as flat AP.

Items

These are very situational and can be interchanged as needed, though i would recommend that you get RoA and Morello's regardless of situation. If the opposing team is very magic based then i suggest you get Mercury Treads and FoN instead of either SFC or Guardian Angel. I choose to not go full AP in order to provide a support tank role that can take several turret hits and be the first one in the fight for your ultimate. Soulstealer is very dependent on your ability with Nunu, get 20 stacks (or even 10) and you will eat your opponents alive otherwise its a waste of money.

Skill Sequence

This is pretty basic, i get consume at levels 1 and 3 because i feel that this is the time when you will be jungling and need the CD reduction and extra damage, Ice Blast is the first maxed and is done so ASAP (exception at start that is countered at level 8 anyway) so that you can gank effectively and do your damage. Consume is maxed next because at a lot of times you just want HP back and with 10 seconds in a lane you can get back 50%, it is also handy in fights near a creep, just for an extra boost. Blood Boil is maxed last mainly because you do not get most of your damage from attack speed and you get about 50% of the effect simply from level one. Ultimate of course is unquestionably your best ability, get 6, 11, 16.

Summoner Spells

This is much your choice, i definitely recommend smite simply for the initial jungling and the extra gold in lanes though your secondary spell is much your choice. Ive seen many effective Nunu's with flash though i dont use because i personally prefer the reliability of ghost. Ghost is effective in the way that it will give you very fast movement speed, almost always enough to ice blast an opponent to catch up, it also allows you to get away seeing as though your regular speed is not amazing.

Catching Opponents

The item build shown in this guide is not very effective as movement speed goes though Nunu with Blood Boil up as well as the masteries and quintessences gets around 450 movement speed, quite reasonable, that added with Ghost means you can almost always catch others (or get away) to use your ice blast to fully catch up.

Jungling

This is very intricate and may take a game or two to handle. First buy Cloth Armour and 5 health potions, the armor does a small amount and goes towards your boots, the pots are self explanatory. (use health pots throughout when you feel neccessary, they are not hard!)
1. Go to small golems and smite one, swiftly after consume the same one, killing it. Now hit on the other one till your passive procs, BUT DONT KILL IT, when you can consume it for the HP.
2. Go to the wraiths and consume the large one, kill two others and consume last (you may need to wait a few seconds for it to come off cooldown).
3. Go to wolves and consume big one, dont bother about consuming twice, kill small ones.
4. Go to blue buff and consume one lizard and smite the other, then just beat on the big golem till you can consume and smite it down.
5. You can now skip over to opposite team's or just kill your own golems and get lizard buff.
6. Go for ganks, laning and returning when you feel like it.

Ganking Sequence

Once you find a target Blood Boil someone before you go in and then IB straight away to slow. Then consume if you are near a creep and just rinse and repeat as many times as possible. If it turns bad or that run away use ghost though to your own discretion.
In team fights or in special situations you will use your ultimate. Use it sparingly and make sure you know you can trap at least a single person in it. If they are going to get out of it you NEED to break it early by walking out of it. This will do a portion of the damage which would otherwise be wasted, sometimes very handy.
You must never ever initiate a battle with your ultimate, always Ice Blast before. Also do not use it straight away if your opponents have stuns that have not been used (Sion, Taric etc.) as this could be partially wasted if so.

Summary

All in all of you follow this guide you should at least have a positive ratio, it may take a few practices though once you master it you can go 10/0/10 every game (as a semi-tank!) without even trying. As an AP/Tank Nunu you will have very strong IB and ult though weak mellee, so you may not be the most effective against magic resist tanks though surely you can work around this with targeting and items. This build is simply a guide to Nunu that can be easily adapted to your playstyle, so try it yourself and PWN SOME NUBS!
