Hi, this the second build i'm going to post so please, feel free to add comments or constructive criticism in case you feel i missed something. Also, my first language is french, so i might make some spelling errors.
I decided to make a Nunu build after playing a couple of game just for fun.
You will see that it's fairly similar for the runes and masteries and also summoner spells to My other Galio build. There's the reason; both are heavy caster/tank with cooldown problems and CANNOT perform if either focused as pure Mage or Pure tank.
Pros and con
Not Mana dependant
Good Laner(Mid also)
If you have a jungler, he'S the perfect character to hold the double lane.
One of the only character able to counter heimerdinger(With Galio, LOVEEEEEE THEM, i wish heimer to burn in hell)
Cannot be build as pure AP or pure tank to really really shine on the battlefield
Require some tanking skills
Require some Brain(to land his ultimate)
Need extremely good team communication, i dont recommend him on solo ranked
Visionary - Nunu can cast a spell for free after 7 attacks.
That's the thing that makes Nunu able to lane for extended periods of time(with Consume). After 7 hit, you have a free spell.
Consume - The Yeti takes a bite out of target minion, dealing heavy damage to it and restoring his own health.
Takes a bite out of target minion, dealing 500/600/700/800/900 true damage and restoring 125/180/235/290/345 (+1) health.
Everytime the skill is ready to be used, use it. ALL THE TIME!!! Its the only way to farm effectively with Nunu. The cooldown also has been lowered in the last patch. So max it with Ice Blast.
Blood Boil - Invigorates an allied unit and Nunu by heating their blood, increasing attack speed and movement speed.
Increases an allied unit's attack speed by 25/35/45/55/65% and movement speed by 11/12.5/13/14.5/15% for 15 seconds. Nunu also gains the effects of Bloodboil if casted on an allied unit.
Extremely good skill. Why do i max it last? You will either be laning in Mid or in a dual lane while another Jungle. You will be alone, and the skill will loose its effectiveness.
Ice Blast - Nunu throws a ball of ice at an enemy unit, dealing damage and slowing their movement speed for 4 seconds.
Nunu throws a ball of ice at an enemy unit, dealing 85/130/175/225/275 (+1) magic damage and slowing their movement speed by 40/45/50/55/60% and attack speed by 25% for 4 seconds.
This is Nunu main spell when his Ulti is on cooldown. Short cooldown on it, even shorter with the runes and with the frozen hearth. Use it all the time. At start, dont abuse tho, cause you still need some mana(for worst case scenarios)
Absolute Zero - Nunu begins to sap the area of heat, gradually slowing all nearby enemies. When the ability ends, he deals massive damage to all enemies caught in the area.
While channeling for 3 seconds, slows nearby enemy units' attack speed and movement speed. After channeling, enemies caught in the area are dealt 625/875/1125 (+2.5) magic damage.
That skill right there separate GOOD from BAD nunu. It require some brain to be landed, and hopefully, you'l have more after reading this.
Some people will call you noob for taking teleport. But i say you are the smartest person alive with this spell. You see, since you are either MID or in a double lane. You can never afford to loose a tower early game, and sometimes, people just dont understand that.
If another lane needs backup, you're always close.... i'm sold to that spell (As a tank/support/team player)
I Tought ghost was good on Nunu to be able to charge in to use his ultimate, but no. 1, the little damage bonus will be of help during the laning phase, and since nunu is a bad farmer, he will need all the help he can get.
Plus, i now feel that if you really want to win, 1 person should always have fortify on the team, and his easier to manage it if you are the tank/group leader.
I KNOW ITS WEIRD' BUT IT WORK!!!!
OTHER GOOD ITEMS
Rod of Ages : +380 Health +425 Mana +50 Ability Power Passive: Your Champion gains 18 Health, 20 Mana, and 2 Ability Power every 1 min. Bonuses cap at +270 Health, +300 Mana, and +30 Ability Power.
Everything a caster/tank like nunu need, tons of health/mana/AP, its the supreme Nunu Jenkins items.
Boots of Swiftness : UNIQUE Passive: Enhanced Movement 3
With Nunu, i wouldnt worry too much about mercury threads(You have plenty magic resist, when you will be dual laning, you will be over-leveling, and their harassment will be cancelled by your consume), Ninja tabi for nunu is just plain ******ed, i dont like mobility, but its up to how you feel. Speed is good for Nunu when you let out your NUNUUUUU JENKINSSSSSS(you need speed to charge in)
Frozen Heart :+99 Armor +500 Mana UNIQUE Passive: Reduces ability cooldowns by 25% and reduces the attack speed of nearby enemies by 20%.
You're now cooldown capped with your runes and your masteries and you will be able to leave the golem buff to someone who actually needs it. Tons of armor and mana, what can i say, its the ultimate tank/caster Nunu Jenkins item.
Banshee's Veil :+450 Health +400 Mana +57 Magic Resist UNIQUE Passive: Blocks one negative spell every 30 seconds.
Banshee veil is absolutely necessary for Nunu; You cancel the first CC that will stop your ultimate, then may be a second one will come, but since your channeling will have been longer, you ulti will do more damage, even interrupted.
Another rod of ages is always a good plan!
Abyssal Scepter: +70 Ability Power +57 Magic Resistance UNIQUE Aura: Reduces the Magic Resist of nearby enemy champions by 20.
70 AP, 57 MR, 20 MPr; Good resist, Good Magic pen, good AP, perfect items for caster/tank.
Zhonya's ring: +120 Ability Power UNIQUE Passive: Increases Ability Power by 25% UNIQUE Active: Places your champion into Stasis for 2 seconds, rendering you invulnerable and untargetable but unable to take any actions. 90 sec cooldown.
120 AP +25% more ap. With that you should be able to deal insane amount of damage with ulti and iceblast+heal yourself for good amounts with your consume.
Please dont forget to use the active.

Nunu is a caster tank, if you plan on using thornmail, rate me a thumb down and GTFO of here please :)

SUMMARY OF ITEMS
You can always change those items order if you feel it might suit you better. The reason i rush frozen hearth is for the massive CDr. People facing you will be just amazed at how often you can ulti on them. And sometime they need their ulti to cancel yours, and since yours will be usable more often, that will mean more ace for your team.
I go health quint, cooldown seals and glyph and MPr marks for increased toughness, dps, and to be able to spam his skills more often. Feel free to use whateve you might have in stock, the health quint are fearly expensive.
It's a standard 9-0-21 caster build. I go for the 9% CdR, 15% magic penetration, the mana regen. This mastery setup will make it possible for you to spam your skill early game without fear of running out of mana before you need to recall to base for your first shopping session.
Gangplank, with his awesome ultimate, he can slow everyone, making it easier to take the enemy by surprise, also synergize really well with fortify.
Morgana, you drop your ult, then she drop hers, for 2-3 second the other team is incapacitated
Amumu, he drop his ult after morgana's, 4-6 second to do whatever you want with them.
Off course that team could easily be disrupted by a lot of magic resist, banshee veil or whatnot, it's just fun to theorize it.
More seriously, i really like teaming with a rammus, right after i cut the other team in half, he just pick one with his taunt, BOOM HEADSHOT!.
Just always make sure to have different damage output. Can't afford to only have magical or your ulti will be too easy to counter, making you useless and not a primary target.
You can go for doran's ring or shield and sell it later. Head to either Mid or a dual lane. (I never use Nunu or i will have too much problems)
Mid=first skill is iceblast
Dual lane=First skill is consume
Try to wait for his passive to be active to spam spells, but dont make it a rule, he has mana, use it. It comes back fairly quickly with a doran's ring and with the right masteries.
If you are facing heimer, i suggest taking smite as a summoner spell. Consume one turret+Iceblast another one+smite. Two turrets down=An out of mana heimer that crys to mommy.
Always use consume even if you are full, at this point consume is not there to save your life, its there to make you lane for realllllly long.
Head to base as soon as you have enough money for Catalyst(Part of the rod of age), teleport back.
By the end of early game, you should be lvl 6. If you were a good nunu, the players you are facing are almost halfway trough their healthbars and you are 3/4 full. Ask for your jungler to come and wait in the nearest bush. Charge before him; UNLEASH HELLLLLLLL; he charge(either Warwick or Udyr will have a stun available), stun one in your ulti, boom headshot, iceblast the survivor, DOUBLE KILL!!!
Mid game start as soon as you have your rod of age and your boots of swiftness. The teleport and the forfity allows Nunu to gank around and be able to defend is solo lane trough the entire mid-game. FOr a gank, its easy, Bloodboil for speed buff+iceblast for slow+ulti to kill+iceblast to finish the runners+consume if you are low on health+iceblast if they are stupid enough to stick around.
Never stop farming. You are not shaco and you wont get tons of kill, you need to farm even if you are really bad at it.
There isnt much else to say about mid-game with Nunu.
Late game starts when you have your banshee veil.
General Late Game guidelines:
1. ***est the other team brain power, depending if they are forest gump or einstein, you might have to adjust yourself.
2. Take advantage of bushes, it will hide your ulti big circle (It will work once or twice, after that, they wont follow you in the jungle (unless they are ******ed))
3. Even if your ulti is countered, it will do damage, and even if it is countered, it means that all of the other team is focusing you and that they wasted all of their stuns for you in a moment of panic, it means your carry's are free to go and rape them.
4. If you see master yi is going to get killed, and that you can save him by killing yourself, do it. You are the tank, he needs the extra minutes to farm(Carry always needs to farm)
5. Dont expect penta kill each game, you might even have negatives stats, you might have a bad game(its fairly hard to be consistant with nunu)
Thats it for now, i'm sure i'm going to add some other guidelines later on.
I never play nunu if i cant Mid or take the dual lane, that doesnt mean you cant. Just adjust your playing style accordingly.
I strongly feel that Nunu cannot be viable as pure tankish or pure Mage. As pure mage, you will lack the survivability you need to jump in the center of attention of the other team.
As a Mage and not a tank, you cannot afford to be feeding the other team. And Since nunu doesnt have any strong CC abilities, he needs to be a menace on the battlefield, and that comes with Iceblast(that got a pretty good AP ratio)
You can always be one OR the other, but I'm 100% sure that the best build is a mix of both.
He is so much fun to play and people generally dont expect him to be of any use of the battlefield, so it is just plain funny to own a team with a nunu!
