Not Updated For Current Season
Hello, this is my first guide, so please excuse how horrible it may look. This is a build that I've been using with Orianna and I have had great luck with this. She has some fantastic survivability as well as support for your fellow summoners. Please note that this guide is more for being a support for your team, but you can STILL deal a load of damage if need be. Orianna is a difficult champ to master since you need to control both her body and her ball. You'll have to keep in mind where you your ball is placed at all times when deciding to use other spells/abilities.
With this build i dont expect to do a whole lot of killing blows. I end up with a lot of assists and well as having very few deaths.
I like to use the AP runes to give her shield ability a bit more oomph when laning with a partner. MP5 i feel is a must as she can burn through mana very easily early game and end game is just right. You can also sub out the CD quints for more AP if you would like seeing as how Morello's can help with CD. Magic Pen. is also a much have.
For her masteries, you want to focus on having more Magic Pen, and reduced summoners CDs so you can use them as often as possible.
Mana will be very tight for Orianna early game, so starting with a Meki Pendant will increase your MP5 and then moving onto the tear will help increase your overall pool significantly early on. Most games that I have played, ive won at around or just after completing the first 3 items. Boots of Lucidity, Archangels Staff and Rabadon's Hat. If the game is still going on, you are pretty much at the point where you can destroy minion waves using Q,W,E (targeting yourself behind your front line of minions. You can also supply a pretty hefty shield to your team mates and your speed boost will help them get away and survive the gank.
You could possibly purchase a Majai's, but I dislike the fact that if I do have a bad game, its a bad purchase, and if im having a good game and I die, i lose stack. That is up to you.
Zhonya's Hourglass and Void Staff are other alternatives if late have you plan to be more aggressive and be a hige damage dealer.
Like I stated, most of my games have ended before the 30 min mark around the time of completing Rabadon's so I havent been able to fool around too much with having all 6 slots filled with items.
Flash and Ghost are both great for Orianna in terms of both being able to escape and to save a dying teammate.
Other spells I could recommend using would be Exhaust (although your W ability late game is just as good. Clarity (but thats only useful in first 10 mins of game) Teleport and Ignite.
You'll want to utilize your shield as much as possible. Having team members such as Amumu, Katarina and Nunu can help you pull off some amazing team fights by first shielding the player and using your ulti just before they use their to ensure maximum damage. I usually sit in the back shielding and speed boosting my allies while occasionally throwing out her Q ability to add some more damage.
