Your guide looks quite alright. Wish you would have mentioned that Rylai's Crystal Scepter synergies so well with Vel'koz's ult, as it allows hitting enemies with ease since they will be slowed for each tick of damage they take during the channel. Other than that, everything seems k.

Not sure why the rating is so low for this guide. It's pretty solid. You clearly know how to play the champion and give solid advice. I upvoted you so the guide will have a better rating. Cheers.

This is the greatest Vel'Koz guide online. It is legendary. I don't understand why the views are so much lower than the other guides? This guide http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/patch-6-20-mid-penetrator-velkoz-the-eye-of-the-void-426704 has 1 million views and its still running the Old School build.

Thanks a lot man. :P

I made this guide during patch 6.18 so it is pretty new and thats why it doesnt have many views yet. I wish it will get more and make this champion a bit more popular.

ALSO, I have been looking for a good support Vel'Koz guide. Maybe you could add that to this guide later on? Or maybe you just play him mid only????

Krisuchu | October 19, 2016 3:24pm
I dont really play support but of course I could write something about it. Maybe run the same build except get sightstone and some support item and full dmg after that. I will think about it.

I think you rate Rylai's Crystal Scepter too highly. I get what you said about it but that simply doesn't apply to a lot of situations. I think for sure if you really want it deserves a place in the build but definitely not prioritized as your second item.

The fact is that Vel'Koz is good at kiting, and Rylai's Crystal Scepter augments this further. Nice! I find however that in most situations you aren't kiting all the time. With a 74% winrate (I've had a similar winrate myself) I assume you are winning lane often, so you're looking for kills, not kiting away from enemies trying to get you. A minor slow on Void Rift wont help you snowball since Plasma Fission is your catching ability. Items like Luden's Echo will give you the speed to catch people and give many other benefits that makes it just a better option. I think Rylai's Crystal Scepter is just better suited to being an optional item that excels against teams where you NEED to kite (eg. Udyr, Volibear, etc.).

Nonetheless, good guide :) I guess it comes down to playstyle, personally I think Rylai's Crystal Scepter just shouldn't be prioritized that high. Thoughts?

It gives you a lot of HP and AP, which means if you are in a good situation and you are looking for item that would give you power and survivability, you can consider to buy this. You can even utilize its passive effectively in some situations for example against team with a lot of melee champions, that you need to kite. With this passive you can use now even Void Rift for kiting if Plasma Fission and Tectonic Disruption are on CD.

Small tip: Your passive Organic Deconstruction counts as a single target spell, which means that when you proc it, it will slow enemies for its full effect.

Here you go, the majority of the dedicated community all agree; Ryali's is bad.

Just a note that apparently the passive doesn't work with Rylai's anymore

I also found in the lane, your laner will HIDE behind minions and Ludens proc will hit the minions and thus doing 0 dmg to your laner. THen you have to wait for it to recharge and maybe miss again... Rylas just destroys the lane. I think thats why its better.

I don't see how Ryali's is any better than Luden's when your laner is behind minions? Luden's bounces to hit your laner even if you hit minions. If anything it's better.

I used to think exactly like this. I used to get ludens so I could roam top+bottom and chase kills and be a super mobile vel'koz. Then I found this build. I dont roam at all. I just use this build, shove the mid hard and the fight comes to me. You literally take pressure off bot lane, just by shoving mid with this.

It doesnt make any sense, but Rylai's crushes your laner. You can shove mid right over.

Thing is you shouldn't need Rylai's to pressure your laner. Luden's provides plenty, if not more pressure in lane as well as giving you roaming potential. I think Luden's is just better in and out of lane.

Thanks for first comment!

Maybe I am rating Rylai's a bit too high but it is purely from my experience. Often I die couple of times before getting it but when I finally finish it I nearly never die and that explains my high KDA. Not sure why, maybe it is just me but I found it really helpful and I cant play without it anymore. :D

You are right when you said that you can build it later in the game. Maybe morello, ludens, rabadons and then rylais if you feel safe to do so. That sounds pretty good build path too. I think I will try it out some day but it is hard to get rylai away from my heart lol. Anyway give this build a try and tell me what you liked. :P

Yeah, I'll give it a try myself sometime :)

Rylai's is solid on Vel'Koz and I'd say build it almost every game in tandem with Liandry's; this gives you the health to not feel like you're made of paper mâché.
