Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
In Noxus, any citizen may rise to power regardless of race, gender, or social standing - strength is all that matters. It was with committed faith in this ideal that Riven strove to greatness. She showed early potential as a soldier, forcing herself to master the weight of a long sword when she was barely its height. She was ruthless and efficient as a warrior, but her true strength lay in her conviction. She entered battles without any trace of doubt in her mind: no ethical pause, no fear of death. Riven became a leader amongst her peers, poster child of the Noxian spirit. So exceptional was her passion that the High Command recognized her with a black stone rune sword forged and enchanted with Noxian sorcery. The weapon was heavier than a kite shield and nearly as broad - perfectly suited to her tastes. Soon after, she was deployed to Ionia as part of the Noxian invasion.
What began as war quickly became extermination. Noxian soldiers followed the terrifying Zaunite war machines across fields of death. It wasn't the glorious combat for which Riven trained. She carried out the orders of her superiors, terminating the remnants of a beaten and fractured enemy with extreme prejudice. As the invasion continued, it became clear that the Ionian society would not be reformed, merely eliminated. During one bitter engagement, Riven's unit became surrounded by Ionian forces. They called for support as the enemy closed in around them. What they received instead was a barrage of biochemical terror launched by Singed. Riven watched as around her Ionian and Noxian alike fell victim to an unspeakably gruesome fate. She managed to escape the bombardment, though she could not erase the memory. Counted dead by Noxus, she saw an opportunity to start anew. She shattered her sword, severing ties with the past, and wandered in self-imposed exile - on a quest to seek atonement and a way to save the pure Noxian vision in which she believed.
''There is a place between war and murder / in which our demons lurk.''
this is my riven build it really does work so try it out and if you don't like a item change it
Pros / Cons
late game absolute tank and great damage
shes a chick
you can escape easy with her
bad early game
best boots in the game if you don't want them get Berserker's Greaves
infinity edge just because the damage and the passive
wormags because you will get alot of kills and it works wonders with atmas
atmas this makes you do so much damage with warmogs its unbelievable
tri force is for more health better for atmas and sheen you use a ability then atack you do so much damage its ridiculous
blood thirstier just for the life steal you then have really good healing with all that health
phantom dancer you sell merc treads for this for more crit chance and for movement speed.
Something you should know
If you did not notice i only do 278 damage but if you look at the crit chance i do 90.52% so i do much more damage then it says really you should double it and that is what my auto attacks do
i get armor penetration runes for the extra damage because people will build armor against you.
and i get health runes for the atmas for more damage and for more protection.
i also get crit chance runes for more crits so more damage .
i get for quintessences i have 2 AD runes (attack damage).
and 1 crit damage one.
i go for is 21/0/9 this is because i want to the most damage as possible but you could go for a 21/9/0 if you want to but this is my play style.
i like to rush broken wing because it is your main move you use on enemies and it will do alot of damage at lvls 9-12 because you will have it maxed out at lvl 9 it can do more then 330 health if they all hit that does not include the bonus AD damage so you will do about 400+ on one combo alone.
i then get ki burst because it stuns them and when it is maxed out it does 210 damage so not bad this can do really well if you try to gank some one you use this so they cant run away from you for a little while
last thing i get is valor because it does help but you only need to put one point in it and you only need it late game but this is really good for catching up to people because it gives you a shield so if they try to fight they have to go though the shield first not your health
this is your ultimate well half of it blade of the exile it reforms your sword so it increases your damage and increases your attack range.
while this is active your can activate your second ultimate wind slash witch attacks in a cone i front of you the less health they are on the more damage it does so if they are on full dont use it if they have 200 left and they are out of your attack range use it because it will kill them.
to farm with riven it doesn't matter if you are on your own or if you are sharing a lane as long as you last hit minions to do this you need to wait till you see a minion on low HP and one hit them instead of just auto attacking the same minion and as riven don't be afraid to use your Q or W or E on them because you don't use
at this point you have all probably guessed where I'm going with this sort of build .
You must always remember that because of the movement speed and the 4 dash skills + Flash summoner skill you are BOUND to over commit in chasing or diving on turret but keep a close eye on your allies and enemies .
So you must always start using Broken Wings ( Q ), after using it u hit the closest target with a normal attack since you got plenty of damage thanks to the Trinity Force after that to avoid getting damage if the enemies are more than one use Ki Burst ( W ) followed by a normal strike at the same target at this point if you haven't focused the tank enemy should be half health , now use the Broken Wings next followed by normal hit as normal ( always remember Trinity Force is you main source of damage at least until you make Bloodthirster so USE IT ) then you probably want to get some shield on yourself to decrease the damage you take so use Valor ( E ) but not the way so you get away from your enemy but so you get ahead of him/her now you can hit 1 more time and it's most certain the enemy is dead by now ( if not tank of corse ). You probably have noticed I don't have you using your ultimate it's simple that's a last resort skill use it if there are more than one enemies you have to face so that it increase your range of attacks use your Ultimate second ability at as many enemies as possible who are still standing that is or if you chase since it's got some pretty nice range .
Most of you have probably guessed it without me saying it that all of your playing style should circle around the Trinity Force both mid game and late game.
Creeping / Jungling
you can jungle as riven really well if you want to jungle just make sure you use smite instead of exhaust .
here is a video on how to jungle
