Introduction
Why two builds?
The first one has a different approach than the second one.
The first one is all about the offence on the mastery tree.
The second one is all about the defence on the mastery tree.
For example, I recommend going for the B.F. Sword right after getting the boots, but sometimes, when you want to go defensively and smart, I'd recommend people getting the lantern first before the sword. It helps you with the map awareness, and also helps with warding incoming ganks.
O-You can sustain the lane very well
O-You can harass people very early in game
O-Somewhat easy to farm especially with Broken Wings
O-Has a great AoE stun (w) that also gives you shield
O-If stacked with AD, all skills react well.
O-No mana/energy
O-Very different gameplay than the rest of the champions. Very enjoyable
Cons:
O- Not much of a big hitter, but great assister.
O- Without practice, it's hard to play it
O- It's dependant on the cooldown
O- Ultimate is more of a buff, not just the attack.
I picked this because armor penetration is definately a big thing for Riven. Gives more damage to her and you can harass very well early game.
Greater Seal of Resilience
You'll definitely need armor going against enemies. Riven is a very squishy character in the beginning and somewhat in mid game. If you don't play smart with armor, you're screwed.
Greater Glyph of Focus
Riven is cooldown dependant and any that helps you with cooldown reduction is a MUST if you want to be able to keep spamming with your skills.
Greater Quintessence of Swiftness
No need for description
Greater Quintessence of Desolation
Keeping Riven alive while farming is a must, and YOU MUST KEEP FARMING. Do not try to kill an enemy until you get 150-170+ AD without your ultimate.
Just because an item gives you mana, doesn't mean you shouldnt get it.
Trinity Force is an example. It's a great item. It doesn't matter if you don't need the mana. It will give you great stats other than AP stats.
