Introduction
For masteries i follow a 21-9-0 order. this goes through all the important offensive masteries giving you early crit chance and armour pen. not to mention executioner to help secure those kills.
I put 9 points into the defensive tree, making sure to get durability and veteran scars for the added health. As with the cdr, you wont be buying many items to improve this so the added health is a nice bonus.

Greater Mark of Desolation - Good armour pen for higher damage output
Greater Seal of Resilience - Armour to help with sustainability and laning phase
Greater Glyph of Focus - Very good for a Champion heavy on cooldowns as you will not be buying any cdr items
Greater Quintessence of Strength - All round good quints to help with early damage output

For Rivens items I follow a very heavy crit chance build, ending with 100% crit chance. This means that you will be critting for around 400-500 damage on every strike at a very fast rate, melting the opponents health.
I start with Boots of speed and 3 Health potions for the early engagements. I then return to base when i have enough money to buy berserker's greaves.
Next I buy a phage and then rush an infinity edge. If you are lucky enough to be fed, by the time you get your infinity edge you will be tearing up the enemies health bars.
I then build a Phantom dancer, a Black cleaver and finally, another Phantom dancer for insane damage and crit chance. A nice added side effect of having two phantom dancers is that you end your build with around 500 movement speed, great for ganking or rushing into engagements.

Many of you readers may find it questionable that i max Broken Wings last. The reason for this is that Broken Wings shouldnt really be used as a tool for damage, more for initiation or escape. However, valor can be used to initiate, dodge abilities, block a tower shot or get out of a tricky situation. As always, take a point in your ultimate whenever you can and use it as often as possible as it has a short cooldown and a high damage output.
Some riven players don't utilize her passive as they should. her passive gives you stacks that increase her damage on every basic attack. some people spam her abilities, wasting the potential of the passive. this is because your stacks generally run out faster than you can pull off three basic attacks. this is why you should always use an ability, then basic attack, then ability and so on. this will maximise your damage and leave your enemies wondering what has happened :)
