I. Introduction

This in all honesty is my first build, and I hope that some of you will like it. It is a build that I am rather enjoying using on Riven. It can put out a ton of damage mid to late game, and you can really rack up some kills. Take some time to read through the guide I've put together, and leave me some feedback, thanks.

II. Item Sequence

Early game: I find that going Boots of Speed and three health potions is a great survivability factor over the enemy champs in lane very early game. From here you may have a few choices depending on how you want to go. You could go either Berserker's Greaves, as I suggested, or go into the Ionian Boots of Lucidity for the Cooldown Reduction. You should be getting a decent amount of farm at this point if you haven't been shut down. Start building into a Brutalizer for the extra armor penetration and attack damage, as soon as you can, but DO NOT finish the Youmuu's Ghostblade yet. You may be tempted to, but do not. Build into a Sheen next and work towards Trinity Force.

Mid-game: By the time you're done with your Trinity Force, it should be about mid-game. From now on you can try to gank, but as Riven you have very little crowd control, so always bring a teammate with CC to help you gank. When you finish Trinity Force, you should build a Vampiric Scepter quickly, and farm the gold for a Bloodthirster to stay in lane. Your cooldowns on your abilities should make farming creep waves very easy. Buffs should be no problem as well. Work on another Phage at this point to build into Frozen Mallet as you are nearing late game.

Late game: Your first item in late game should be the Frozen Mallet for that passive and the AD, and usually by this time the game is about to end, or is nearing the end. If it continues past that, finish your Youmuu's Ghostblade and then build another B.F. Sword for an Infinity Edge.

III. Runes

I went with the Greater Marks of Desolation for the most armor penetration since Riven is mostly burst damage, to maximize the effects of my skills. The Greater Seals of Resilience are to make Riven just a tad bit less squishy, honestly, they really help you survive in a teamfight where you aren't getting focused or CC'd to death. The Greater Glyphs of Focus are pretty obvious, as Riven is a Cooldown based champion. The two Quintessences of Malice and the single Quintessence of Furor are my own personal liking. You may disagree with me on this choice, but I've seen that the Critical chance helps during auto attacking, and the damage as well. If you combine Riven's passive with a crit, it does a nice size of damage.

IV. Masteries

I went 21/6/3 with Riven, and it works quite nicely. Yet again, you might disagree with me putting 3 points in utility for the Perserverence and the Ghost buff, you might think to go 21/9/0 or 21/0/9. The 6 points in Defense are in the Magic Resist and Armor masteries, making Riven a bit less squishy, and the extra speed on Ghost really helps when being chased by someone with a dash skill such as Poppy or Renekton.

V. Skill Sequence

The Skill Sequence is pretty simplistic here. The first three levels get your Broken Wings, Ki Burst and Valor to level 1, then build Broken Wings to level 5 as fast as you can. It is definitely your main damage dealer besides your passive. Also use your ult a bit before engaging, and always use your Wind Slash if they are either running, or in a last minute attempt to save yourself or get at least a kill.

VI. Summoner Spells

The Summoner spells I chose for Riven are Ghost and Exhaust. Ghost is a very valuable spell to have on Riven, as it increases her survivability immensely when escaping. It can also be used to dive very successfully as her, or to get off your Wind Slash before they are out of range.

Exhaust is very good on Riven, allowing her to seal a kill in most cases, or escape. When an enemy is weak enough that you think you can rush in and kill him, do a bit of damage, and if they flash and your Valor is still up, dash towards them and start using Broken Wings. After maybe one or two Broken Wings you should be able to exhaust and auto attack them to death with the help of your Ki Burst.
