Just asking, dont you benefit more from CDR rather than pure tank stats since your ultimate makes you invulnerable? And with more CDR you will be able to spam more Q,W and E?

That's a very good question. The quick answer is that 20% CDR by your fourth item is enough. With about 20% CDR your Ult will be up again by the time the next big fight breaks. Once you learn how to use his passive you won't need massive CDR for his Q,W, and E.

The long answer: I used to rush to 45% CDR on Taric all the time because I had the same mindset. My build path was something like 1-Face of the mountain or Eye* to 2-sight stone* to 3-Frozen heart to finally 4-redemption while building 5-boots somewhere in between. Plus your mastery that gives you a straight 45%.

The first problem I had with this build is the item choices for CDR. Face of the mountain or Eye* first is a good solid item that gives 10% CDR. Then you move on to sightstone* and boots(usually ninja tab). If we are just trying to rush CDR then or your next item you want armor and CDR to scale on Taric. Your choices are limited to FH or Gauntlets. Gauntlets are just bad for scaling on Taric so we build FH. Then you only need 10% CDR to make it to 45% CDR.

Most magic resist items have a 10-20% CDR on them. If I have rushed CDR often times I would find myself going over the CDR cap (40%+5%) making that bonus stat useless.

If the team had a lot of AP the flat health worked but would quickly be useless without MR. Why don't you just build MR first? Because your not scaling Taric very well without armor. By the time you start building your third item item then AP should start to be a problem that you need to deal with.

Once the enemy ADC saw me start to build FH they would have a Last whisperer (which only costs 1300) by the time I have it out so they could ignore 35% of my armor. So I would need to rely more on my Health than armor.

Taric also needs movement speed. Usually I would build Ninja before FH for that armor scaling. Also it has a nice passive. I usually could not afford swiftness over survivability.

So to combat these problems I developed a build with a mixture of health items with resistances. Because lets face it as a support, if you die your teams is useless without you.

Hey man, great guide! I was just wondering though- Why take Secret Stash if you start with a refillable potion? I understand that it is the normal support route most take, but isn't it rendered pointless since it doesn't work on refillable potions? Just wondering.

you have a good guild, with interesting view on taric, i would want to watch one of your games if you have anyrecord with this builds. how much movment speed you have when you don't buy boots?, as movment is important on Taric, and i always buy the swiftness boots.

i have some comments below, just my opinion and experience

1) pros-cos "-Long CD", add that it long for the ult not all of the abilities (as you have passive)
2)"Strategy: for W - I usually take this first and cast it on the jungler to help him take less damage" know that you can save a little bit of mana if you tank the buff for the 2 attacks of the shiled if you do it on the ADC (and on you)
3)"Windspeaker's Blessing - This should be abused. The resistance does not stack so try to time your usage between your Q and W about 3 seconds apart" pretty sure it refresh the cooldown, i didn't check it.
4)never tried Hunter's potion on him, interesting choice
5)i think you should always prefer taragon's because the money is crucial especialy if you don't take boots.
6) "Mikael's Crucible should be taken for instances like if your carry is always getting hit by that Morganna stun. Plus CDR and 20% to heals and shields. (+8% from windspeaker) " windspeaker gives 10% not 8, BTW every 10% stack together exept for Runic Armor as he do the precent for the precent himself - 30% from crucible and windspeaker and 8% in runic mean 40.4% on you
7) ZZ's rot do not good for split pushing since the change riot did it used for sieging, as the spawns are going for shorter distance and much less strong then minions. for split pushing the item is banner's of command.
8) i don't think taric need any cooldown since level 3 he can achive it by good mechanices, the CD is just bonus because the items are good.
9) you have good structure for the guild, a little bit of collors, for the important things/items name/don't do to emphasize would make it much more easy to understan :D

you got my vote ^_^

Hello fellow fabulous player!

Your Taric guide is also great. I used to use your guide all the time. The great thing about Taric is he so versitile you can build many different items and still do great.

Just tested the speed difference between using boots of swiftness and Deadman's plate at 100 stacks using a 3% movement from quints.

418 from the boots of swiftness

422 from deadmans at 100 stacks (downsides is it takes about 8 sec to get up to speed and you lose the movement on hit at 100 stacks or just 15 stacks if your not at 100. But you should not be hitting the enemy unless you are sure you want to engage)

1) I agree that as you have passive it makes his CD shorter IF you can use it. When you get 20-30% CDR his ult does not take too long to refresh.

2)Your right you could. But for people like Amumu who need the extra help early I usually like to cast W on them.

3) I meant try to extend the buff to 6 sec for prolonged fights rather than to quick cast w and q at the same time. Stacking I meant that the bonus doesn't add on top of each other if you cast both w and q.

4) I mainly use hunters potion because I don't build a mana crystal. I got the idea from playing Taric in the jungle. Even though you can't refresh it in lane it still gives great sustain.

5)This may be just preferential but I prefer sustain through hunters potion first then buy whatever I can after. If I have enough for Jargons then absolutly. If not then cloth is always good on Taric.

6)Math! :P

7)I honestly don't build either on Taric and should take zz out of the build. Even for a final item warmongers or randuins is just better.

8) I find 20-30% Cd by the 4th or 5th item works just fine.

comment for both of your's

your team definatly won because of you, very good game :D, and you had the worst enemy bot taric can get

i fill like you lack the movment speed needed early game, as you get only on 20 min the dead man's plate, you should buy boots and not upgrade them and sell later (90 gold diffrence) so you will be able to move early game, it would have save you sometimes. (and need to check if it charge the dead man's faster)

90% the hunter potion will get into my guild too (i will link your guild when it will be)

and one last thing, you should buy control wards and switch the yellow to sweeper while level 9 (only if you have sightstone...), it will give you much more vission control over the map, (couldn't follow your gold so in general)

1,8) i saw you don't focus CD, in the guild it sound much more like you focus it, you do as i and look at it as a bonus.

3) you can try make it more clear if you want :D

7) yha i fill like ZZ not good enough since the change.

100% agreement with "The great thing about Taric is he so versitile"

thank for the comment for my guild :-), if you need anyhelp with a code in your guild you welcome to ask for.
