Hello everyone! My name is Brandon aka Snake And Dagger. If you're reading this its probably because you want to learn how to play Evelynn, and play her to your greatest ability. Well, you've come to the right guide. As I write this I currently have over 200k mastery points on her, so she is by far what I specialize in. I've played this game since Season 3 and have played Evelynn for over a year now so I will give you all the tips and tricks I have learned along the way.

PROS
[*] Incredible map pressure, especially early.
[*] HIGH amounts of damage even without ultimate.
[*] Good clears with efficient kiting.
[*] Build/Runes/Masteries provide a little bit of everything.
[*] She's ****ing INVISIBLE.

CONS
[*] Very squishy.
[*] Needs to snowball or falls behind badly.
[*] Mediocre counterjungler.
[*] Semi item dependent.
[*] MANY other junglers who are better right now.

Evelynn has her strong points and of course, her weak points.






Why this rune page? It will give you the strongest/fastest clears, and will have you dealing an incredible amount of damage for your early game ganks. Also, 40% CDR is ideal for Evelynn, and this rune page gives you 10% which will cap you at 40 with your items.




Now this is what is always debated among Evelynn players. There's 4 keystone masteries that you could viably run on her and those are: Strength of the Ages, Thunderlord's Decree, Fervor of Battle, & Deathfire Touch. The reason that I (and most pro/high elo Evelynn mains) run Thunderlords is the burst is perfect for a stealth assassin like Evelynn. In all the games I have played with her this is the keystone that just feels right. Now I don't run this page 100% of the time, but it's what I choose in most of my games.






Here is a screenshot of the build I run in 99% of my AP Evelynn games. I'll break down why each item is good on her.

Starting Items
[*] Hunter's Talisman - Choose this over the machete. I've tested out both on several occasions and the talisman will leave you with a much healthier clear.

[*] Refillable Potion - Do not waste your money on health potions. I repeat, do not waste your money on health potions. This item is extremely gold efficient and you will find yourself always backing with it empty with is good.

Final Build
[*] Runic Echoes - Self explanatory core item. Complete this as soon as you can.

[*] Ionian Boots of Lucidity - Great boot choice for Evelynn as it provides you with early CDR (+CDR on summoner spells) and is one of the cheaper boots. You can sit on tier 1 boots for awhile if you need to.

[*] Hextech Protobelt-01 - I almost feel like this item was made for Evelynn. Health, CDR, and tons of damage. A MUST BUY. Once you complete this you will be oneshotting carries left and right. Just remember, the closer you get the more rockets that hit which equals more damage.

[*] Lich Bane - You can't go wrong with this item. Every stat is extremely useful for Evelynn and this will also cap you at 40% CDR if you stick to the build plus my rune page.

[*] Ryalai's Crystal Scepter - This has been a great item on Evelynn for quite some time and the most popular item among the best Evelynn players in the world. Great damage + health and of course the passive allows you to easily stick to targets and chase them down for the kill.

[*] Rabadon's Deathcap - My item of choice to round out of the build. At the point in the game you will be building this you will receive such a major boost in ap. However you can also build a defensive item or even a Void Staff.

Extras
[*] Vision Ward - Vision is important. Always try to have a pink ward on the map at all times. I like to place them in my jungle entrances that way I can collapse on counter junglers.

[*] The Dark Seal - I sometimes like to buy this first back. Everything this item gives is honestly great for Evelynn and if you are able to snowball without dying you can build it into the Mejai's.

[*] Elixir of Sorcery - For when I have reached full build. Self explanatory.




Now it's time to get into the actual gameplay and how to properly jungle with Evelynn! Like I said before, if you would rather watch a video that contains all this information head on over to my YouTube channel. I have a guide for ap AND ad Evelynn.

Let me start off by saying she isn't the easiest. She's actually one of only 5 champions in the game who have the highest difficulty rating of 10. With that being said, it's not rocket science and anyone can pick her up with a little bit of practice.

Let's start with your first clear, and obviously your most important clear. This is the route you want to take, with a leash from your teammate(s). I will do both red and blue side. The numbers in yellow are when you want to use your smite. THIS IS THE ROUTE YOU TAKE WHEN YOU DON'T PLAN ON GANKING BEFORE YOUR FIRST BACK WHICH I DO NOT SUGGEST.



As you can see, no matter what side you're on you START with smiting gromp and END with smiting gromp. As AP Evelynn I believe this is the strongest jungle buff you can have with her so while im jungling I try to have it as much as possible. As I stated, this diagram does not factor in ganking lanes, which is what makes Evelynn shine. There's also a route I take when I want to buy a dark seal first back, and that is just simply Gromp (smite) -> Blue -> Wolves, and then back and buy and immediately go to Krugs and start there.

Another thing I want to bring up is kiting your jungle creeps. Evelynn is very weak early game, so to have the healthiest clears you always want to kite the monsters with your Q while your E is on cooldown. If you watch any of my Evelynn videos you can see how I do this. It's vital in her clears and is one thing that separates the good Evelynn players from the bad ones.

One last point about jungling that I want to make that also applies to every other champion is DO NOT NEGLECT YOUR JUNGLE CAMPS. In the majority of my games I will end up with more gold and more exp over the enemy jungler and this is because I actually jungle and take efficient routes rather than gank gank gank. I'm not saying to afk farm, but you MUST keep jungling and not spend too much time in lanes. This just comes with practice and experience.




This is where I'll post updates to the guide. This game is constantly changing and I'm always trying out new things.

[*] 5/30/16 - Changed summoner ignite to flash. Also changed from chilling smite to challenging smite. Reason for this is because in the higher elos flash will be much more useful, and since red smite is like a mini ignite I decided to switch to that along with it.

[*] 7/26/16 - Okay so today I totally revamped this guide. My runes/masteries are different and more towards a standard Evelynn setup. I've fully switched over to playing her this way and I have found a lot more success with it. I also changed a few other small things.
