Introduction

Hello readers, fellow League of Legends players and MOBAFire followers, I'm writing this guide for the one simple reason that, I love Shaco. Since I bought him, he has been my favourite champion by far. He is often overlooked and seen as an 'Average DPS', I beg to differ. He has amazing burst capabilities due to his Two-Shiv, his clone and especially his ' Deceive'. I hope to share some of knowledge about Shaco and further demonstrate that knowledge by explaining my past experiences. Anyways, into the guide! :)

This is an early version of the guide. I'm still adding to it and would love feedback to help me improve!

Explanation of Shaco

First of all, Shaco is not to be taken lightly when it comes to damage output. He has the potential to easily take-down champions around the map. I've even *carried* with Shaco a few times, which is strange for a highly squishy champion. Ah, yes, he is SUPER easy to kill in a sustained fight. Meaning if he 1v1's a champion that knows he is there, he has a high chance of dying if not used properly. So remember when playing, you aren't Alistar/Shen/any other tank in the game by far, so don't rush in like one. You are a SHACO. Remember this please! Too many Shaco's I see seem to think they can tank on a full health Garen. No, just no.

Shaco can DESTROY enemy carries and squishy champions. Tanks are slightly harder. Try to avoid them early game if you can.

Why my build?

This guide will help you build an efficient early-game-ganking/late-game-dominating beast. Shaco is not usually built with health or survivability in any way, and that is the same with my guide. If you play him correctly, he doesn't need survivability. He has a built in flash-stealth move ( Deceive) and can get out of sticky situations easily against a team with little CC. This build as high damage output and a variety of helpful tips and tactics. Hopefully this gives you insight on how to play a decent, resourceful Shaco.

Shaco's Abilities

Backstab

(Passive): Shaco deals 20% bonus damage when striking a unit from behind with his autoattacks or abilities.

Deceive

Shaco instantly stealths for 3.5 seconds, blinking to a target nearby location and removing any slow effect. If he uses an autoattack while stealthed, the attack is guaranteed to deal increased damage.

Cooldown: 11 seconds after stealth breaks
Range: 500
Deceive can be used to initiate a gank, push back enemy players, escaping, teleporting over walls, as well as many other uses. It is your nuke and extremely useful for catching weak running players.

Jack in the Box

Shaco creates a Jack In The Box at the target location. It will Stealth after 2 seconds, and pop out when an enemy comes near, fearing nearby enemies for a few seconds and attacking them. It deals magic damage, and lasts 90 seconds stealthed or 5 seconds while firing. Casting Jack In The Box breaks stealth.

Cooldown: 16 seconds
Range: 700
Jack In The Box isn't something I use very often unless stacking bushes or defending. I don't build AP Shaco so JitB isn't too useful for me personally.

Two-Shiv Poison

(Passive): Shaco's attacks debilitate his targets, reducing their movement speed for 2 seconds. It also causes the minions hit to miss their attacks.

(Active): Shaco throws a dagger to a target dealing magic damage, and applying his slowing poison to them for 3 seconds. The passive is deactivated during the cooldown.

Cooldown: 8 seconds
Range: 625
This ability is great! I love using it straight after I backstab with my Deceive. It slows the enemy for 3 seconds so it's great for chasing and dealing that last burst of damage. It is great for last hitting early game.

Hallucinate

Shaco creates an illusion of himself nearby which deals 25% less damage and receives 50% extra damage. This illusion deals half damage to towers and inhibitors. On death, the illusion explodes, dealing damage to nearby enemies. Lasts up to 18 seconds. Using this removes any slow effect.

Cooldown: 100/90/80
Range: -

Fantastic for ganks, tower-diving and escaping. Hallucinate can be used to dodge attacks like Lux's ultimate.

Item Explanation

Start with a Doran's Blade for Laning Shaco. Proceed to pick up Boots when you can. (Purchase a Health Potion while you get your boots too).

Rushing Mobility Boots allows you to get around MUCH quicker. You will instantly have an edge getting to ganks, making your way to team-fights - even though Shaco doesn't team-fight much - and of course generally getting back in the field a lot quicker. Picking up Madred's Razors and building into a Wriggle's Lantern will not only give you Lifesteal to keep you laning longer, it allows you to place a ward every 3 minutes for free. Madred's/Wirggle's also grants a small percentage to your attacks to hit an extra burst against minions or neutral creeps, highly beneficial to Shaco farming and doing some jungling.

The Bloodthirster is one of the best Melee DPS items in the game, if not the best. It can stack up to 100 AD! With a massive lifesteal bonus, you can easily feed off of creeps if you are on low health but don't want to go back. The other items are fairly self explanatory, Last Whisper for AD and ArPen. Infinity Edge for a massive damage bonus and critical damage boost, the extra Bloodthirster is to compliment the one you already have, for bonus lifesteal and damage. A Recurve Bow allows you to chase very efficiently and hack at enemies with your auto-attack for MASSIVE damage! Youmuu's Ghostblade for a very good active ability as well as Armor Penetration and Damage. An extra Last Whisper for extra ArPen and AD to help you own even more, although, the game is usually over just after you get your Infinity Edge of possibly even before that. I have had some games that drag out, it helps immensely to have the extra AD, ArPen and lifesteal. The Quicksilver Sash is added on the end for a nice insta-cleanse in-case you're in trouble and get silenced so you can't Deceive.

Tips and Tricks

- Shaco has a built in Flash that recharges <10 seconds late game and can be used alot.
- To get out of dangerous situations while being chased, instead of Deceiveing towards your base, Deceive towards theirs. They will continue running towards yours thinking you have gone that way.
- Use your Hallucinate to farm late game if there is a lot of minions. Money is very important on Shaco.
- When ganking, come in from behind and make sure you are in stealth mode before they would even see you, so you can Q, Backstab, R, E and then Auto-Attack until your Shiv and Deceive recharge,
- Use Two-Shiv when chasing, it has a slow!
- Shaco can't tower-dive without his clone. Do NOT try it.
- Make sure you last hit as much as possible early game when laning Shaco, the gold benefits him alot. If you can rush damage items early game - like a B. F. Sword - you can destroy enemies easily with your solo ganks.
- If you are going to solo gank, watch out for wards and lures. (Lures are when they have a weaker champion farming in a lane on mid-low health, you go in for the kill, the weak champion runs backwards and you chase, ending with their team crushing you.
- You cannot pentakill without your team... Unless they're absolutely HORRIBLE players you're facing.
- When laning early game, be very careful. Enemy players, - especially Ranged DPS - can you harass you easily if not played with caution.

YOU ARE ONE OF THE BEST EARLY GANKERS IN THE GAME! USE THIS TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!
