Introduction

Hello and welcome to my Sivir Guide!
In this guide I will discuss a few basic things such as what play style is preferred with this kind of build, and also explain the reasoning behind my rune, mastery, summoner spell and item choices!

But to start off, I would like to give some picture proof, that this build and playstyle does indeed benefit you, and will make you a dominating Sivir. The playstyle is mainly aimed at solo mid Sivir, but the playstyle allows for some nice jungle farming, as well as helping the top and bottom lane. You will also become quite tanky, and can take a bit of a punishment.

As you will notice some of these games have very little kills, assists and deaths. This is because the game is over so quickly. Many of these games ends at about 20 to 30 minutes in, because the other team simply gives up.
It can be a bit hard to master, it's high risk high reward strategy. You need to be focused, and be able to tell what is going on around the map. Especially if the players on your team call SS on their own lane, which means you'll likely get ganked sooner or later.

If you apply to the above, then lets get started!

Pros / Cons And Play Style

First some Pros and Cons.

Cons:
  • High Burst
  • Great Farm
  • Good Harassment
  • Great Lane Pusher.

Pros:
  • High Mana Consumption
  • Low CC
  • Very Skillshot Dependent
  • Slow Movement Speed until Trinity

She is very good at bursting damage out, quickly giving you control of the lane, and denying your opponent valuable early game farming. You can push your enemy all the way to the tower, and then they'll stand there, until you've pushed your minion wave to the tower. Now here it gets risky, because if you are good at landing her boomerang blade, you can go in, throw it, and run. If you hit, a good chunk of health will go, since early game 80 Attack Damage HURTS!

The only problem you'll have is against long ranged champions like
Brand, since he got very high burst too. It's not impossible to counter a brand solo mid lane, however it's hard. You might have problems with a champion like Caitlyn too. The thing is, that she got high range, and her Q early game hurts, given she got the right runes.
Might also have a problem against champions such as
Fizz, since he also got high burst damage, as well as dots.

The playstyle is rather simplistic. You use your Boomerang blade to harass the enemy, and you have to see if you can get as clean an angle as possible, since the most minions it travels through, the less damage it does when it hit the enemy champion. You can use this to push back the enemy very early on, since it might take 15-18 % or so health from a squishy mid player like Vladimir, Morgana and the likes right off the bat.

Now, another very VERY important aspect, is to use the Spell Shield frequently. Getting this at Level 2 will be a life saver against most players, especially since it gives free mana, and it blocks any first spell that hits it. This spell shield will be your way of gaining mana, since every time you successfully block a spell with it, you get a free 150 mana. Playing against a champion like Morgana, it's more important to level FIRST rather than the Ricochet, since Morgana depends heavily on her Stun Spell because of Spell Vamp. The trick is to lure them out, by pushing them to the tower, and then stand with your back against their tower. Somehow this psychologically makes players wanna attack you (not lying here), and as soon as a spell flies your way, activate the spell shield, get free mana, continue on!

It is also very good in team fights, since it enables you to be a great initiator, as well as a shield for others. You will be on the lookout for skillshot spells, and pick them up with your spell shield every time, getting mana, and protecting your team.

You will stay in lane until you have enough money for a Berserkers Greaves, find an oppertunity to go home, buy them, and usually by that time you are Level 6, so use your Ultimate to run back to the mid lane. When the enemys tower is down, or when you have the Vampiric Scepter, use the chance to go pick up your blue buff, given that you have no junglers, nor they have any junglers.

Sivir with Blue, is more important than giving her Red. With a Blue buff she can spam her ricochet as well as boomerang blade without having to worry about mana consumption at all. This will make her a great jungle and lane farmer, as well as pusher and initiator.
Early game you might notice that you won't always get a lot of kills, however, you will have outfarmed the other team so much that mid to late game, you will hit like a truck. The trick lies in hitting a champion with the boomerang blade twice. On the way out, and on the way back.

Remember that her Ricochet also resets her attack animation, so firing this right after a basic attack, will fire again, which gives some extra damage.

When the tower is down in your lane, use this opportunity to go help top or bottom for some time, until their towers are down. If you die after the lane phase is over, use the opportunity to farm your teams jungle, as well as a lane or two. Remember to use her Ultimate when you push with a minion wave against a free tower. It will take at least 50 % of it's health with a full minion wave, or close.

Runes

  • Flat Attack Damage Marks.
  • Flat Armor Seals.
  • Magic Resist per level glyphs
  • Flat Attack Damage Quintessences

This gives you:
  • +13 Armor
  • +24 Magic Resist at Level 18
  • +15 Physical Damage

Now, the most interesting thing about this, is the physical damage boost. With this, as well as masteries, and dorans blade you'll start with 80 Attack Damage! That's a lot early game, and will help you deal tons of damage from the get go.
The runes are chosen to give Sivir a lot of early game burst damage, as well as some sustainability in form of armor, and more magic resist as you level up.

Some might say that you should go for Armor Penetration, but it doesn't work well for Sivir. Not even in items! Pure Physical Damage and Attack Speed would be the way to go, in that respect.

Some might also say that Sivir got mana problems, which she does, but that's accounted for with this playstyle as well. You will play conservative, but aggresively. It's perfectly possible to play without mana regeneration runes or flat mana runes.
