Hey, this would be my first mobafire guide, and mobafire has helped my quite a bit through my 500 sum odd games ive played (if you wanna find me my username is Berlox on the american server) I hope this will help you. I came across this build while playing a game as Skarner where we didnt really have a tank, so throught the levels i decided to fill this role. I started with another ranked solo top skarner guide on here but adapted it after getting the trinity force. Endgame i could solo just about anyone, no one could put a remarkable dent into me, and I hit 500s every time my sheen was up and it was just fun. . .

CC = Crowd Control
AD = Attack Damage
AP = Ability Power
AoE = Area of Effect

Pros:

very good late game
very durable late game
Skarner has very high base health and damage
Incredible chaser
Passive works wondors

Cons:

Sorta hard to play early game
only has slows and a supress for CC
somewhat item dependant

I havent really experienced to much with this build but:

i start with a regrowth pendant and a health pot for sustainability then i move to philosophers stone
then boots
sheen ( which i always recommend you have)
finish off boots into mercury treads
finish a trinity force
build a frozen mallet
then finish off with an atma's impaler
sell the Philosophers stone for a Force of nature, and Warmogs armor

Core build:

Boots(Berserkers Greaves or Mercury Treads or Ninja Tabai (ill talk about that in a second))
Trinity force
Frozen mallet/Rylais Crystal Scepter

Boots, which to get and what circumstances does it cover:

Berserkers Greaves: are only the best choice if the other team is badly built has no threatening CC or AD
Mercury Treads: Are the best choice if the other team has lots of CC or threatening AP champions
Ninja Tabai : are best if there is a lot of AD and little AP it gives you that extra armor ad dodge chance

Alternative items:

Heavy AD:

Thornmail: The armor helps alot and it gives that great passive of damage return
Sunfire Cape: Nice armor and passive AoE
Guardians Angel: will really help best if theres a high burst champion like Leblanc and very high AD to go with it this would not be my first recamendation

Heavy AP:

Banshees Veil: good Magic resist and the passive spell blocker this item should be sell explanatory
