I'm not really fond of pure solo builds. It seems to me they aren't flexible. It would be nice if you made a chapter for example "analysis of support items" to show why they are inferior because anyone can play/learn AP sona but why is it so much better. Just saying that's how she is meant is ok but not convincing for me. Also add trinkets.

Rabadons and void staff aren't really cheap. Where does the money come from? Is void staff always necessary? I think some explanations would be good in the item section, especially there I wish more in-depth information like in the rune section. You could talk about gold efficiency or the pros and cons of the items. Lich bane forces you to get into auto attack range which is low, how do you play against disengage comps? (e.g. azir, zyra, anivia)

What about athenes, ardent censor, zekes etc.? I wonder if athenes could be an alternative/situational item if you're facing a heavy poke comp. Also morellos, what if nobody buys a grievous wounds?

I did something and got an interesting result. Tried it when I remembered you mention Athenes.

I have two game stats:
This is the AP build. This build.

This is a heal build.

This is how I built the heal build.

http://i1120.photobucket.com/albums/l484/Arvic12/sona%20heal%20runes.png

What caught my eye... This build only did 5.0k heal, while the heal build did 32.4k.
Just showing you 'cause its an interesting difference, despite this build probably giving way more ap than the heal build which you think will balance the heal difference out, but there's such a huge difference. Strange.

Off Topic below:
One of the big problems with the heal build is that it costs way too much mana, but the heal items give so much mana regen. You might as well have blue buff. In my max build photo, if you look at the mana bar, you'll see my build maxed at 10.3 regen. Athenes and etc easily broke through it and reached >13+ regen and without mana regen runes. This game, I was spamming heal, run out of mana and the mana used is already almost regenerated when heal cooldown comes up. They're almost even. That's insane. Heal build can work.

That's quite the difference. However, with the AP build you also did 32.4k damage. I think the 100-250 extra heal plus the 15% heal amplification are pretty crazy.

100 AP from both items, not including runes and masteries.
[60 (W lvl 1 heal) + 100 (min. heal athenes)] * 1.15 (ardent) = 184
[140 (W lvl 5 heal) + 250 (max. level/heal )] * 1.15 (ardent)= 448.5

So you will always do at least 184 and the most 448.5. This is a lot when you have max cdr and more AP. However, the AP build boosts all aspects (especially the passives). My conclusion from this build is that AP sona is just as viable as every support build.
