Not Updated For Current Season
The masteries shown here are not yet updated for the current season, the guide author needs to set up the new masteries. As such, they will be different than the masteries you see in-game.
Threats to Soraka with this build
|Ezreal||Depending on how good the Ezreal is at poking, he should be no problem to handle because without his Arcane Shift (E) he's really immobile and an easy target for your Starcall (Q) or Equinox (E) and as long as you hit your Q after he hit you, you already healed up all the damage you took|
|Quinn||I only had this matchup once or twice but it shouldn't be too hard because if Quinn can't hit you with her Blinding Assault (Q) there won't be that much damage coming in and you can easily poke her with your Starcall (Q). If you get marked by her Passive just stay out of her range and Exhaust her if she's engaging|
|Janna||Jannas Eye of the Storm (E) can be hard to get through so try getting her to use it on herself and not her ADC. As long as you dodge her Howling Gale (Q) she won't be a big threat to you and she's only able to heal after Level 6 so try using that to your advantage. When she reached Level 6 try to always stay on your side of the lane so she can't throw you into her turret.|
|Lulu||If you have to play against a Lulu it shouldn't be that hard just try dodging her Glitterlance (Q) and you should be fine. Just try to always block her with your Equinox (E) so she can't use Whimsy (W) to shut down your ADC.|
As Support it's mostyl normal to choose Exhaust and Flash for Summonerspells.
Always use Exhaust in Situations when you both are exposed to the enemy ADC so that he doesn't get the full damage in on you. Also use it when your ADC is lowlife and you see that the opponent is trying to snatch the kill. If you're engaging you can use it to immobilize the opponent so that either you can catch up or stunns like Ashes Ultimate can be hit easier.
For an immobile champion like Soraka flash is very important and a must have as a Summonerspell. She doesn't have any real stunns (only if her Equinox (E) closes while a enemy champion is standing on it) so you'll be pretty exposed and an easy target if too far out in the battlefield. So don't use it if not needed because without it you're vulnerable for a pretty long time.
When I play Soraka I always skill the Starcall (Q) first because I use it for early pokes. This is very effective against immobile champions like Ezreal or Ashe.
If you're not too familiar with Soraka or your ADC wants to play aggressively, skill Astral Infusion (W) first. With this skill you'll have to play very passively until Level 2 (where you should skill the Starcall (Q)) because you can't heal yourself up but need to give your life to the ADC if he's getting poked down. But never waste your heal if not necessary otherwise you'll make yourself an easy target for the opponent ADC.
The third skillpoint should go to your ability Equinox (E) so you'll be able to block either an engage of your opponent ADC/Support or an early Level 3 gank. Against Junglers like Kha'Zix or Master Yi, which mostly use their abilities to get close to you, this is very effective. You give them a short immobility and this can decide between a successful gank or you and your ADC getting away with your lifes.
Afterwards you're free to skill whatever fits best in the situation you're in but ALWAYS skill your Ultimate Wish (R) whenever you can. This Ultimate can either save your life in a gank or it can make a probably lost teamfight into a winning teamfight.
Most of my games with Soraka work really well with this build but it also has a lot to do with good teamwork. If you're singlequeuing and don't know how good your ADC is and the teamwork doesn't really work out, even the best Soraka player wouldn't be able to do all by himself/herself.
Below I will link some of my good matches that I had with Soraka in the past few Weeks so you can see that the build I use should work pretty well in most situations.
