Soraka

Pros:
- One of the best healers in the game IMO
- Can replenish mana to self and allies
- Can silence enemy Champions
- Ultimate can heal from anywhere

Cons:
- Squishy (and you will be targeted)
- Lacks offensive power

For Summoner Spells, I have chosen Clarity and Ghost. Clarity for the obvious reason she uses mana and even though Infuse grants mana, it can't keep you full forever. It can also be used in team fights to replenish all of your team's mana. And Ghost for the obvious reason that it will let you GTFO when you're going to die.

I have spec'd Soraka in a 0/9/21 fashion. The 21 points in Utility is for the Ghost buff as well as the Clarity buff, and the buffs to mana and health, as well as cooldowns. The nine points in Defense are to help keep her alive as she is very squishy.

Start out taking Astral Blessing as you will be required to heal a lot as Soraka. Take Infuse second to keep your mana up as well as silence enemies. Get Starcall third and use it to harass the enemy team and farm minions. Continue building Astral blessing and Infuse fast, while getting Starcall every once and awhile. Get Wish every chance you get as it will help even when you are not around.

For runes, I have chosen nine Greater Gylphs of Force to boost her Ability Power, nine Greater Seals of Focus to reduce the cooldowns of all her spells, nine Greater Marks of Knowledge to boost her mana, two Greater Quintessences of Knowledge to further boost her mana, and one Greater Quintessence of Celerity to further reduce her cooldowns.

Start out buying a Mana Manipulator, it'll cost all your gold, but the mana aura will help. Second, buy a Kindlegem, then a Ruby Crystal to build a Soul Shroud. Buy Boots of Speed and build them into Ionian Boots of Lucidity to reduce her cooldowns. Next, build a Majai's Soulstealer because when healing, you will get a lot of assists and you get one stack for every kill and assist and this will boost your Ability Power. Here comes the expensive part. Buy a Needlessly Large Rod and a Blasting Wand to build a Rabadon's Deathcap. Then, another Needlessly Large Rod and a Chain Vest to build Zhonya's Hourglass. Finally, buy another Chain Vest and save up for a Guardian Angel so that if you die, you don't. =)
