Introduction

So i have spent the entire day playing Talon with varying success. I tried playing him the "Phreak" way and i tried just playing him pure glass cannon both with rather unsatisfying results. Then i said to myself: "I'm a bruiser player, why don't i play him as a bruiser?" And thus i came up with this build that i actually haven't lost a game with yet.

I'd also like to take what i say with a grain of salt because i have only tested it in Normal games. Not yet in ranked (where i am at 1650).

This is my first champion guide for LoL so be gentle and give me pointers if i do something wrong. :)

Runes

I tried using Arpen and Attackspeed on him but it didn't feel very good and my laning was hurt a lot. So i switched over to my bruiser runes which is basically:

Flat Attack Damage marks and quintessences mostly for stronger harass with W.
Flat Armor seals for more lane sustainability.
Magic Resist/level glyphs for a more tanky mid/late game as my build doesn't bring a lot of magic resist.

Masteries

Masteries i am still playing around with. I feel like the 15/6/9 actually fits him really well, picking up the armor and magic resist from the defensive tree (considering sacrificing some more pts in attack for the dodge/nimbleness as well in defense but basically i like the arpen from attack because it brings some of the squishier champions down to 0 armor together with Brutalizer.

Items

Start boots with 3 pots or if you're up against someone real annoying you may want to pick up a Doran's Shield or Regrowth Pendant for better sustain.

Make sure you always got a ward in your brush keeping you safe from ganks and if you see it's about to expire push your lane and go base or ask for a gank and then base. After level 6 you get pretty hard to gank with your ultimate up pretty much all the time but until then you are vulnerable.

I get Brutalizer as first item because Talon really needs the damage if he is to be able to scare his opponent in lane, he doesn't have any shield or heal so he must get some damage to scare people off. Also it is a really good item that will last you throughout the early and midgame until you finally build it into a Ghostblade late game.

I then finish my tier 2 boots, usually you want to get the Merc Treads for the high tenacity (and mr) but if the opponents really have no hard cc you can go for the CDR boots, it's the only viable option imo.

Then it's tankytime. I get my Giant's Belt first and then the Chain Vest because the extra armor is just dandy! Finish Warmogs, Finish Atma's and now you got a bunch of damage and tanky! At some point get Phage! I don't know the best time for this, you could get it after brutalizer or after warmogs as well because some more slow is always nice for his passive but after atmogs is complete you should really have it done! Now you're sitting at real good hp and armor so you need magic resist!

Buy the negatron cloak first (again you can buy this earlier if they have an AP heavy team) and then consider the following: Do i need more damage or more defense? How is the game swinging? Make up your mind and finish either your Ghostblade or Force of Nature (Banshee also a good choice, gives a small amount of damage as well). You have now spent 14k gold or something like it so for the super late endgame just finish your Trinity Force and melt faces.

Skill Sequence

R - W - Q - E pretty much self explanatory. You want to max your W because you want it for harassing in lane, as well as last hitting from a distance if you're up against a tough lane.

Your Q is a very strong nuke you have to remember because the bleed scales very well with AD but i still haven't found that a good enough reason to level it over W.
