This guide is about building a tanky Mordekaiser and how to use him effectively. I know a lot of people think Mordekaiser isn't a tank but with tanky items he can still do a good amount of damage and have great survivability. This is my first guide so please comment and rate. Thanks!

I start off with a Regrowth Pendant and a Potion. Since Mordekaiser uses health instead of mana a regrowth pendant will help him stay in lane longer and help him harass more. Next I get Boots of Speed. After I get a Negatron Cloak or a Chain Vest depending on who you are fighting in your lane or who's on the enemy team. I finish my Force of Nature which is followed by Rylai's for some health, a nice slow, and some extra damage for your abilities.
Now I will get Randuin's Omen or Thornmail (or even both) depending on how many AD champions they have or if they have someone like Tryndamere or Master Yi which Thornmail counters well. After those items it's up to you if you want to buy Guardian Angel or Warmog's Armor(possibly both).

My first skill is Siphoning Strike because it can harass well at level 1 plus it charges your shield more. I also max that skill which helps a lot with offensive and defensive power since it will charge your shield more when you level it up. After I max Mace of Spades (get one rank at level 2) then Creeping Death (get one rank at level 4).

Recommended
Ghost: Very helpful for chasing enemies since Mordekaiser doesn't have any crowd control. Plus it works well with Randuin's Omen. I recommend this.

Ignite: It makes a really good combination with your ultimate. When people see the ghost mark above their head they usually try to heal, but the healing reduction from Ignite plus the extra damage it does will make a deadly combination. I recommend this.

Acceptable
Exhaust: Gives Mordekaiser a form of Crowd Control and keeps enemies from running especially from your Mace of Spades. Ghost lasts longer which will allow you to keep auto attacking and use more spells on the enemy. I prefer Ghost.

Flash: Can help with those sticky situations. It can be used for chasing or escaping. It's good on most champions.

With Mordekaiser I prefer to solo mid or top (if there is a jungler or not) because Mordekaiser's passive shield helps prevent harassment and his E spell can harass easily. To harass with Mordekaiser use your E spell on the enemies and run away. You can also use your Q spell on them or a minion near them to do some damage. It helps if you have a full shield before doing so.
