Note: This is not a guide for how to play Taric, simply a build to utilize in conjunction with those guides.

The purpose of this build is to create a champion who is able to support his/her team throughout the whole game, without being squishy at the same time. Most supports are horrible at farming and last-hitting in early game, resulting in a gold drought throughout the rest of the game. This build aims to maximize income in the early game by having Taric fulfill more of a tank role by taking priority for Shatter over Imbue. Although Taric will be less able to support his teammates by healing them in the beginning, Shatter will allow extra protection for Taric and his teammates, as well as a reliable farming tool to increase income in early game. By starting with tank items first then slowly easing into caster items, Taric is able to fulfill both these roles when they are most needed during the game.

The Ruby Crystal enhances Taric's survivability in the early game to allow him to use Shatter frequently. Upgrading to Aegis of the Legion further increases his survivability in the team fights that will come in mid-game. Archangel's Staff grants Taric the mana that he very much needs as a support character who will be casting many heals and stuns, as well as channeling Radiance. Nashor's Tooth greatly reduces cooldowns for Taric, and if gold allows, Warmog's Armor and Zhonya's Ring further boosts Taric's survivability and ability power.

The runes I chose may seem a bit controversial at first, but let me explain. As Taric's main source of mana regen will be through his melee attacks, mana regen runes are next to useless. At the same time, attack speed will become rather useful, hence the attack speed runes. Furthermore, extra mana from runes have little impact on the Taric's performance. The two main "competitors" are ability power and cooldown reduction. After calculating, ability power and and cooldown reduction give approximately the same amount of healing for Imbue. However, for Shatter, the extra damage attained from using cooldown reduction runes over ability power runes becomes obvious. Furthermore, the cooldown reduction allows Taric to stun more often with Dazzle, a crucial ability in team fights. Therefore, cooldown reduction is clearly the champion in this showdown.

This Taric is meant to be played aggressively. Rather than being behind the action and supporting your teammates from there, this build requires you to be in the fray of the battle, constantly attacking with your melee hits to replenish mana, stunning opponents with Dazzle, keeping up Radiance, Exhausting enemies where needed, and healing your allies and yourself. Taric the Gem Knight, used properly, may become the deciding factor of a battle, and ultimately the entire match.
