Introduction
I've been playing Jhin after watching various YouTube videos of pro players pulling off ridiculous Jhin plays in their matches, as well as Jhin being a very strong and meta champion at the time. I have 70k mastery points on this champion and hope to earn my Level 7 badge on this champion soon!
I have primarily chosen to write this guide for fun and to help players who are starting to consider maining Jhin in the future. I hope you enjoy!
Infinity Edge is always an essential item on Jhin as it gives Jhin 20% Critical Strike as well as 50% increased Crit Damage, meaning that Jhin's shots, especially his 4th, will deal significantly more damage.
With the Boots of Swiftness and Youmuu's Ghostblade OUC Move Speed/ Active, Jhin will have a good amount of mobility to escape tight situations/ teamfights without having to worry about slow movement speed.
Jhin's Q, Dancing Grenade, is primarily used to wipe waves of creeps in quick succession as it has a very short cooldown. Use Q during early game to harass your opposing targets to "last-hit" them with your Q. Dancing Grenade's 4th hit deals 250% more damage if it has killed the previous 3 targets. Use the first three to pick off low-health creeps and the fourth to deal a large amount of damage to the enemy champion.
Jhin's W, Deadly Flourish, can be used for multiple reasons. Not only does it clear creeps, it has a great passive ability - Bind. Use W to cut-off fleeing champions that have been damage by an allied champion by snaring them with your W's Bind. The snare duration increases per ability level.
Jhin's E, Captive Audience, is a very good tool that can be used as both an offensive and defensive ability. Offensively, plant your traps in bushes to either prevent enemies from going in them to increase lane pressure, or to Bind them once they have triggered it.
To use it defensively, plant traps in the river to buy you some extra time during ganks. This will ensure an unsuccessful gank and the enemy jungler will think twice the next time he ganks your lane. Also use E to kite so you can buy some extra time to flee the chasing enemy. Once they have triggered your trap while chasing you, Bind them with W to ensure a successful escape.
Jhin's R - Curtain Call, is the ability that makes Jhin, Jhin. With 4 shots, and the final being a guaranteed Critical Strike dealing 250% damage, AND insane range, use R to pick off weakened enemies, or to slow down fleeing enemies to help your allies clean up the teamfights. Jhin's R is the ultimate game-changer that can, at times, decide the fate between victory and defeat during pivotal teamfights.
When using Curtain Call, make sure that you are at a safe distance to use whilst being conscious of your ultimate's range (which still is huge), as enemies can flank from the back line and hit you with either hard CC to cancel/ eliminate you from the map.
Whilst Jhin has very basic attacks and abilities, it is very important to keep in mind that playing Jhin requires patience, strategic thinking and good positioning. Be patient, and wait until the right moment to strike, as you only have 4 shots. Make them count by choosing your targets carefully. Good positioning will ensure that you are safe whilst dealing large amounts of damage, so your enemies will be at the bad end of the trade, and even fight when playing Jhin.
I hope you enjoyed and learned a few tips from this guide, and good luck in your future games.
