its a nice guide everything there are ok, correct just one thing i felt like its wrong no its not i felt its wrong xD, the ability sequence, the first ability to unlock is the Q (caustic spittle) i tell you why, because it gives you passive attack speed and kogmaw suck on the farm early because of mobility and easy to be reached, while bio arcan barrage is for late game to fight with it and its better to boost the Q to earn better attack speed from passive because the more kogmow attck speed has he became better for fight even hard tank 1v1.

Hey man really nice guide. Really admire the effort and time put into it. I do have a question though regarding kogmaw. Do you think kogmaw jungle can still be viable? I practically got to platinum by simply playing kogmaw jungle and I absolutely loved it. I'm kind of disappointed they reverted him back to his prior state. I still think he would be decent with the attack speed jungle item and could perhaps be a late game monster again n the jungle stage.

hey, glad you like the guide. as far as jungle ADC's go, they've always been on a razor's edge in terms of viability. Graves jungle works because of his clear, high damage build and surprising gank potential. Twitch jungle works mostly because of ganks as well. While Kog'Maw jungle used to work due to the sheer damage of Bloodrazor + Guinsoo's, I think he can still be viable now, if built correctly. First off, his damage output has been altered siginificantly, so I think the best way to compensate is by embracing reverted Kog's internded playstyle (just as updated Kog's was "sit back and auto"). This means an emphasis on positioning and kiting in fights. I'd take BORK as 2nd item after Bloodrazor for the pretty good all-around stats for the mid game but also for the self-peel it provides. Since your support will likely be occupied protecting your mid laner or AD carry, you'll need to largely fend for yourself. Your 4th item should probably be Hurricane to maximize your DPS, but Triforce is also an option (if you don't take Cleaver later, that is, which I recommend). For your 5th and 6th items I would get either Frozen Mallet (tankiness/self peel), Cleaver (pen/mobility/a little tankiness), Triforce (DPS) or another lifesteal item (Merc if they have easy to land/follow up on hard CC like Ashe Arrow, TF Gold Card, etc). The final build I'd recommend would be Skirmisher's Bloodrazor, Berserker Greaves, BORK, Hurricane, Mallet, and Cleaver or Triforce, depending on how much Armor they're building. If you have a tank who already has Cleaver, I'd go for Triforce. Again, I haven't tried out reverted Kog jungle, so this is just what would make sense in my mind.

'Bout the runes, wouldn't it be better to have the mark of scaling attack power instead? Kog is squishy early game anyways and the scaling one beats the normal one at lvl7 so it gives a greater advantage when he is actually good.

I think flat marks are the most-used/effective marks on ADCs simply because of their potency in lane. Even though he's squishy in lane (like all ADCs), he can still do well for himself with the flat AD. This plus the extra damage later from on-hit (from Runaan's/BORK) makes flat runes more practical. While yes, they would give him a bit more damage later, they would severely handicap his early game performance (when his W actually is good for trading/harass/punish). If it fits your playstyle though (play it safe in lane and farm for late), go for it.

Ok, thx. New on runes and stuff, so it's nice with someone helpful that replies.

where do you put hurricane on kog? very meta on champs like trist, jinx, cait. it wasnt good on old kog before because the item then was a lot weaker on the whole, but with new items/reworked items on an old champ, theres room to grow

Hurricane can be taken as the Zeal item instead of Phantom Dancer if you want more spread out damage in fights, but its worse for kiting. Depends on what you want for your playstyle.

Edit: you could potentially take both to maximize a more on-hit DPS style, instead of taking IE.

Hey your guide is really helpful! Would you be able to divide the circumstantial items according to AD or AP or something?
1
nrj6490 | July 4, 2016 1:51pm
Well, the only AP item that's viable on Kog'Maw ADC would be Guinsoo's. Did you mean that I should make an AP Kog section?

Yeah, I've been going through the guide to update it for "new" kog.

UPdate this as Q no longer gives the passive so your little talky part makes no sense.

(Response to "Why no defense items")
While in S5 and seasons past it was usually good to include a GA, Banshee's Veil, or the more aggressive Mercurial Scimitar, the preseason patch favors your last item to be an item to complete late game scaling OR to enhance survivability while still dealing damage. Mercurial Scimitar, Death's Dance, and Bloodthirster all fall into the latter category, while IE, Dancer, or any other AS/Crit items are for scaling.

(Response to the guy who calculated stuff)
THANKS SO MUCH! Glad you liked the build!

why no defense items?

This build needs UPVOTING!!!
64% from Guinsoo's
40% from BOTRK
40% from Runaan's
35% from Q passive
30% from Greaves
25.5% from base scaling
14% from Runes
4% from Fury mastery
The example build has fantastic synergy with Kog and gives him 252.5% which reaches his 250.5% requirement to hit 2.5 ATK speed at level 18. W active and it's 5 AAs per second from 4 items. Very nice :D
I'd say Runaan's is superior in general as it gives Kog a small amount of on hit damage at 15 per hit times 5 AAs per second equals 75 on hit damage; for perspective, Fervor of Battle does 80 damage per hit when fully stacked. Runaan's with Kog's insane ATK speed late game is practically like having FOB doubled. Whereas Phantom Dancer gives 3% more movement speed and wastes 7% ATK speed late game whilst adding no damage albeit a small amount of survivability in the Lament passive. I'd pick Runaan's regardless of it's Wind Fury passive; especially as it means every item has an on-hit effect, something Kog thrives on.

With W active at 5 AAs per second, your DPS is 275% which keeps up/surpasses an IE enhanced AA of 250% like other ADCs. So the last item can be situational without gimping much damage, which is interesting... Particularly as he applies on-hit effects so much. Incidentally, I don't think you'll ever need Mortal Reminder as Kog's DPS is so much higher than any sustain, especially considering the BOTRK passive synergy with Lord Dominik's, meaning a LOT of health shred.

After trying a fair few builds, this one is VERY good. Some items I've seen that I feel are overrated in other builds as "core"
Wit's End - It's kinda like Runaan's but with magic damage and res steal. It synergises with W but less so in a team fight and has no kind of scaling unlike Runaan's. Runaan's is better in the long run.
Muramana/Essence Reaver - This combo does work but it takes forever to stack and fund. It gives us 25 on hit AD in the end for 5000 gold. That sucks in comparison to 2600 gold for Runaan's and 15 on hit damage in one slot with more crit chance.
Death's Dance/Hextech Gunblade - Death's dance is bad because Kog is mixed damage. Hextech Gunblade makes some sense but doesn't add as much damage or sustain. Bloodthirster's shield is invaluable and the AD more efficiently buffs his AAs than Hextech does due to the poor scaling on W. Mercurial Scimitar's active is situational superior for obvious anti-CC reasons.

Just some depth on why this guide is so agreeable :D
