I would personally certainly at least get a 
B. F. Sword before completing my SotD :P

Before I have tried taking B. F. Sword first and then rush Sword of the Divine later, but as I noticed it's hard to get it at start with early game income, that's why tried Sword of the Divine first instead, but first taking as much AD as possible from Runes, Masteries and Doran's Blade. I might try adding Long Sword or another Doran's Blade, but so far I had no real issues with it.

Interesting but I don't see how a Sword of the Divine as first item could be effective... You have no AD at all to support your crits early game lol.
